The invention relates to a method of producing an article comprising a hollow three dimensional array of reinforcement elements encapsulated in a thermoplastic material, whereby a hollow parison of said thermoplastic material is located within said array of reinforcement elements, said reinforcement array being located in a mould spaced apart from the mould surface, and said parison being expanded into conformity with said mould surface to encapsulate said reinforcement by the production of a pressure drop across the wall of said parison.

Method of moulding a reinforced thermoplastic article

A method of manufacturing a disc wheel which is of generally Y-shape in cross sections radial of the rotary axis of the wheel, the stem of the Y providing the central disc of the wheel and having holes for the normal wheel bolts or studs, and the bifurcations of the Y providing the wheel rim. The wheel has an annular metal reinforcement having parts located in the stem and in one of the bifurcations of the Y, the reinforcement including holes corresponding to the holes in the finished wheel for the bolts or studs. A covering of plastics material is moulded over the reinforcement, the covering having an integral extension which provides the other bifurcation of the Y. The plastics covering is moulded onto the reinforcement in a mould cavity defined between first and second mould portions which are movable towards and away from one another in directions parallel to the rotary axis of the wheel between open and closed positions. The reinforcement is located in the mould cavity, at least at the start of the moulding by first and second series of abutments, each abutment of the first series engaging in one of said holes in the reinforcement and each abutment of the second series engaging the reinforcement at a position radially outwardly of the holes with respect to the rotary axis.

Method of manufacturing a disc wheel

A method of injection moulding a pallet comprising a reinforcement or reinforcing frame provided with an encapsulation of thermoplastic polymeric material, wherein the reinforcement is held in an open mould cavity by vertical projections before the mould cavity is closed and after closure of the cavity is supported in the cavity by horizontal projections whereupon said material is injected into the cavity to encapsulate the reinforcement, the projections subsequently being withdrawn the cavity opened and the pallet removed. The reinforcement or reinforcing frame of the pallet is in the form of two interconnected assemblies of crossed rods.

Method of injection moulding pallets

A method of forming a two-dimensional array of reinforcement elements completely encapsulated in a thermoplastic material. The reinforcement array is supported above a vacuum forming table on a plurality of pegs moveable upwards from the surface of the table, a sheet of hot thermoplastic material is positioned over the reinforcement array, and a vacuum is applied through the table to draw the thermoplastic material down and around underneath the reinforcement. The pegs are then retracted to a position substantially flush with the surface of the table once the thermoplastic material is capable of supporting the reinforcement, the vacuum then drawing the thermoplastic material around and underneath the reinforcement and to those parts of the reinforcement above the pegs. The thermoplastic material is then allowed to cool and set.
