A facing head includes a housing with a center axis and a rotary slide with a rotation axis offset from the housing center axis. At least one cutter plate is provided on the rotary slide and rotatable therewith. A centrifugal drive is located in the housing which rotates the rotary slide about its axis of rotation. The centrifugal drive includes at least two driving bodies which are mounted within the base body of the facing head and which are displaceable essentially perpendicular to the center axis under the influence of centrifugal force. The rotary slide rotates under the influence of a spring return device when centrifugal force does not move the driving bodies outward. A coupling device in the form of a gear wheel on the rotary slide co-operates with racks on the driving bodies so that the driving bodies move together but in opposition.

A tool is proposed for the machining treatment of bore surfaces, consisting of at least two component tools that can be displaced with respect to each other, both of which are provided with machining arrangements, wherein an inner component tool is guided inside an outer component tool, in that the tool (1) comprises a primary piston (13) that--for the purpose of carrying out an extended movement of the inner component tool (7)--can be charged with a certain medium under pressure, in that the primary piston (13) during the extended movement of the inner component tool (7) displaces a medium via a connection channel (25) into an equalizing chamber (27), and in that the equalizing chamber (27) is in the form of a concentric annular chamber, arranged about the axis of rotation, in which an equally annular-shaped compensating piston (29) is movably arranged.

Tool for the metal machining treatment of boring surfaces

A facing head is described comprising two slides which are arranged adjacent each other in a radial plane and on a tool adjustment for active force balancing. The slides are formed as two parallel connecting links (couplers) between two double-armed cranks of a parallel crank mechanism. On tool adjustment, the slides are moved simultaneously and oppositely to each other while they describe a part of a circular path. Guiding of the slides reduces the influence of the centrifugal force on the slide drive force. The cutting angles of tool cutting edges disposed on the slides, therefore, change only slightly on tool adjustment.
