A radar system for a vehicle includes an antenna element installable at an outer shell of the vehicle, a dielectric waveguide, and a radar circuit configured to communicate with the antenna element via the dielectric waveguide. A vehicle includes a plurality of radar radio heads arranged at an outer shell of the vehicle, a plurality of waveguides, and a radar circuit configured to generate a common local oscillator signal and simultaneously provide respective radio frequency signal derived from the common local oscillator signal to the plurality of radar radio heads via the plurality of waveguides.

A method for processing radar signals includes emitting a first radar signal via a transmitting antenna of a first radar unit, where the first radar signal is phase modulated using a first code and a first frequency offset is added to at least a portion of the first radar signal, and emitting a second radar signal via a transmitting antenna of a second radar unit, where the second radar signal is phase modulated using a second code. The first code and the second code are orthogonal to each other and the first radar unit and the second radar unit are loosely coupled with each other. The present disclosure relates to a concept for calibrating an IQ modulator. A calibration method comprises setting one or more control values of the IQ modulator corresponding to a desired constellation point of a constellation diagram to generate an IQ modulating signal; mixing the IQ modulating signal with a carrier signal to generate an IQ modulated transmit signal; transmitting the IQ modulated transmit signal towards a predefined object at a predefined location; receiving a reflection of the IQ modulated transmit signal from the predefined object; mixing the received reflection of the IQ modulated transmit signal with the carrier signal to generate a down-converted receive signal; comparing amplitude and/or phase of the down-converted receive signal with the desired constellation point of the constellation diagram; and adjusting the one or more control values of the IQ modulator until a deviation between the amplitude and/or phase of the received down-converted signal and the desired constellation point falls below a predefined threshold.

The present disclosure relate to a receiver system that removes unwanted signal components from a received signal based upon signal information from previous received signals. The receiver system has a signal generator that generates multiple signal patterns. One of the multiple signal patterns is provided to a transmit antenna that wirelessly transmits the signal pattern. A receive antenna port receives a reflected signal comprising a time-shifted version of the signal pattern and provides the reflected signal to a reception path. A feedback path extends from the reception path to a signal correction element, which selectively generates a correction signal that reduces unwanted signal components in the reflected signal. One embodiment of the present invention relates to a test signal generator configured to generate a single sideband (SSB) test signal that is used for testing components of one or more receiver chains to identify errors in the receiver chains. In one embodiment, the circuit comprises a SSB signal generator configured to generate an IQ baseband signal comprising a sequence of constellation points corresponding to the SSB test signal. The constellation points are modulated onto a high frequency local oscillator signal to generate the SSB test signal, which is inserted into a reception path of a receiver at a test signal injection point. The output signal may be analyzed to determine errors in the reception path.
