Electrical connector

Disclosed is an area array connector adapted to connect contact pads on one generally planar circuit element to corresponding contact pads on another generally planar circuit element. The connector has an insulative contact mounting sheet having a plurality of contact mounting apertures therein. A plurality of electrically conducting contacts are mounted in the contact mounting apertures, each contact having contact pad engaging legs resiliently projecting away from opposite faces of the contact mounting sheet. Two insulative contact securing sheets are provided, one laminated to each face of the contact mounting sheet, each contact securing sheet having apertures therein to accommodate the resiliently projecting legs of the contacts.

Area array connector

A connector that connects an electrode to a lead includes a connector housing. A conductive contact is positioned in the connector housing and has a tapered end, and a seating surface is positioned in the connector housing opposite the tapered end of the conductive contact. The seating surface and the tapered end are configured to positively retain an electrode when a connection hole of the electrode is positioned around the tapered end. The connector also includes a mechanism for pressing the seating surface against the tapered end of the conductive contact.

A backplane (3101) includes a plurality of connectors (3150, 3250, 3350) mounted on the front (3105), each connector arranged to accept a circuit board (3160, 3260, 3360) having a set of signal receptacles (3140, 3240, 3340). Each connector includes a set of connector holes (3130, 3230, 3330) positioned such that when a circuit board is mounted in the connector the set of connector holes aligns with the set of signal receptacles. Further, the backplane includes a set of backplane holes (3120, 3220, 3320) aligned with the set of connector holes. As a result, when circuit boards are mounted in the connectors, a signal bus (3107) including a plurality of sets of conductive prongs (3110, 3210, 3310) may be affixed to the back (3103) so the prongs extend through the backplane holes and connector holes to make electrical contact with the signal receptacles in the circuit boards.

An optometric device includes a semi-rimless plastic two lens frame having two rim surfaces for mounting two lenses in the frame, each having a circumferential groove therearound. The lenses are mounted by the use of a rib projecting from the rim surfaces and integral therewith and configured to engage with a portion of the lens groove to axially fix the lens and by a line and winder which releasably engages the remaining portion of the groove of the lens to radially fix the lens.
