The coil winding machine (10) winds a series of interconnected coil bundles within winding forms (28). The winding forms are transferred from a coil winding station (29), at which the coil is wound in the pie-shaped cavity of the winding form, to a coil removal station (237,293,61), at which the winding form is separated and the coil is removed and placed on a storage arbor (54) in the proper order for later assembly in a transformer, and finally, after reassembly of the winding form, back to the winding station.

A toroidal electrical transformer having a low voltage coil, a high voltage coil and an annular magnetic core is disclosed. The preferred low voltage and high voltage coils are each continuous in substantial part over their length and form an arcuate elongated passage therethrough. A toroidal transformer insulation tube includes first and second identical, molded plastic U-channel halves. The halves each have an arcuate bottom and generally semi-cylindrical sides which extend upwardly from the bottom and terminate in inner and outer edges. The edges have symmetrically arranged alternating lapped sections, radially offset from adjacent lapped sections, so that when one U-channel half is mounted to another U-channel half with their edges aligned, the lapped sections overlap to restrict relative radial and rotary motion between the U-channel halves. Thickened flanges are formed at the ends of the halves for strength and for keeping the electrical windings on the insulation tube. The flanges have lead slots, facing in opposite axial directions, formed therein for receipt of transformer leads so that the leads in opposed slots of opposed tubes are spaced apart.

This disclosure relates to a bushing assembly for use with tank-type electrical transformers. The bushing uses a maximum amount of conductor material to provide the required shape and the necessary physical strength, and uses a minimum amount of insulating material to provide only the insulating function. The bushing may be secured to the wall of the transformer tank by an externally mating clamp assembly, or may include threads formed on the inside portion of the bushing for engaging an internally threaded securing member.

A bushing well assembly for an electrical apparatus enclosure having a first conductor portion disclosed on a first axis and extending interiorly of the enclosure for connection to the electrical apparatus, at least two other conductor portions disposed on respective second and third axes and extending exteriorly of the electrical apparatus enclosure for connection to respective separable terminators, and an insulating housing for supporting the conductor portions with respect to the enclosure having supporting legs integral thereto to relieve the cantilever forces exerted on the bushing well assembly. The housing is also provided with a recess to retain a gasket and limit the compressive forces exerted thereon.

A fuse holder for a transformer comprising a generally tubular housing secured at one end to the transformer end wall and enclosing the fuse. A tapered resilient adapter sleeve is disposed within the outer end of the housing and carries a bushing well for a high voltage line adapter. The adapter sleeve seals the housing interior. An annular clamp secured to the transformer wall holds the adapter sleeve and fuse holder housing in place. The inner end of the air type fuse is connected to the transformer primary winding by a helical coil spring compressed between a projection on the fuse and a stainless steel tube. The fuse and bushing well are removable by detaching a clamp ring on the outside of the transformer and slipping the parts out through the adapter sleeve and housing. The construction permits immersion of the air type fuse and insures isolation and de-energization of the internal transformer parts upon opening of the fuse.
