A steerable independent front suspension having upper and lower wishbone control arms, each control arm pivotally mounted to a suspension frame which in turn is adapted to be mounted to a vehicle frame. The other end of the control arms are pivotally mounted to an upper and lower end of a knuckle post, which has an opening extending therethrough. A steering knuckle is pivotally mounted to the knuckle post and mounts an S-cam brake assembly having a brake actuator extending therefrom. The knuckle post opening is positioned and sized to receive the brake actuator when the steering knuckle is pivoted to a maximum position to increase the steering angle of the vehicle.

Independent front suspension

A support bracket is provided for adjusting the pinion angle of an axle when mounting the axle to a trailing arm in a vehicle suspension. The bracket comprises a pair of spaced arms connected by a web. Each of the arms has a first aperture and a second aperture with the corresponding apertures on the spaced arms being aligned. The first apertures are elongated in an arc with a radius having is origin centered in the second aperture. The support bracket fixedly supports an axle and is mounted to the trailing arm by pins extending through and between the apertures and through bushed connections in the trailing arm so that the bracket is pivotable relative to the trailing arm about the pin extending through the second apertures.

Axle support bracket for a drive axle suspension

A load control (24) for a vehicle (10) having a frame (14), a load-bearing body (12) mounted on the frame (14) and rear wheel-bearing axles. The rear wheel-bearing axles support the frame (14) through suspension systems. The load control (24) selectively renders one of the rear axles non-load-bearing or load-bearing and includes a sensor for sensing a load between the load-bearing body (12) and frame (14) and an actuator for rendering one of the rear axles load-bearing when the load sensed by the sensor is above a predetermined level and for rendering the rear axle non-load-bearing when the load sensed by the sensor is below a predetermined level.
