The present invention is a machine for manufacturing a fibrous web from a fibrous suspension, with a sheet forming area that exhibits at least one suction box, which includes a main box with at least one suction box cover that is formed from at least two drainage elements that run laterally to the machine's running direction, border a suction slit, and each has one main body and at least one ceramic. A device for attaching a strip cover on a dewatering box in a paper machine; including at least one connecting element extending transverse to the machine direction, to attach the strip cover to the dewatering box across the entire machine width. Fasteners secure the connecting element on the dewatering box in such a manner that it is adjustable, generally transverse to the machine direction, between a clamping position in which it presses the strip cover tightly against the dewatering box, and a release position in which the strip cover is released. At least one adjusting element is utilized for the adjustment of the connecting element, which is accessible from the operator or drive side of the paper machine.

A former with a sieve, preferably with a cylinder mold, is provided with an adjustable discharge aperture for a fibrous material suspension exiting from a chamber that is formed between the sieve and an upper lip formed by a flow guide plate. The upper lip has a first end facing away from the chamber and is guided in a floating manner by a pressure medium in a direction toward the sieve, as well as in the opposite direction. The upper lip is supported in a floating manner also by a pressure medium at its second end facing toward the chamber. In this way, deflections of the upper lip in the region of the inlet aperture can be largely avoided.
