A variable displacement, pressure compensated, axial piston pump has an electrohydraulic servo valve connected to the pressure compensator mechanism to enable the pressure setting of the mechanism to be changed from a remote location.

A destroking device for use with a variable displacement hydraulic pump driven by an electric motor, which device automatically reduces the displacement of the pump during start-up of the motor to a value which will ensure that the motor will accelerate to its rated speed and automatically relinquishes control of the pump when the motor reaches its rated running speed.

A pump has a pump driven impeller mounted immediately adjacent the port plate which cooperates with a collector to increase the tangential velocity of fluid entering the inlet port to substantially equal that of the barrel cylinder ports.
