The invention relates to a transfer printing station for an electrographic printer or copier wherein the transfer is carried out by means of a transfer roller () that simultaneously forces a web of paper () against a photoconductor drum () in such a manner that no defective spots (data loss) or bright spots in scanning patterns, indefinite scanning patterns and horizontal stripes in scanning patterns occur on the paper web (). This is especially important for the subsequent printers of a system of printers that have to print onto a paper that is stressed by the fixing station of the preceding printer. The transfer roller () is disposed in a swiveled support unit () that comprises, in addition to the guide of the paper web (), transfer jaws () along the photoconductor drum (). The inventive transfer printing station is especially suitable for use in printing systems with a plurality of printers or copiers.

Transfer printing station for an electrographic printer or copier

In a printer system composed of a plurality of printer devices, the speed of the recording medium to be printed and of the intermediate carrier in every printer device following a printer device is adapted to the changing dimensions of the recording medium. For example, the changes in the recording medium that occur due to the fixing of toner images on the recording medium and that lead to a degradation of the print image are considered in following printer devices.

In a web guidance device, particularly for a continuous form printer device, deflection seat is provided around which a recording medium web is guided in a conveying direction. A lateral guide roller influences the recording medium web with a laterally acting force in a region of a deflection seat such that the recording medium web lies against the lateral detent. A planarly acting hold-down element is provided in a region of a lateral guide roller, the hold-down element pressing the recording medium web onto the deflection seat with a specific pressing power.

Paper web guidance device

A method and device to control a paper drive mechanism of an electrographic printer or copier by friction feed. Optical markings are provided on the recording medium, and a sensor scans an area of the recording medium for the optical marking during transport of the recording medium. An evaluation device evaluates the signals from the sensor for two successive markings corresponding to page length. High speed conveyance of the recording medium is controlled according to page length identified by the evaluation device.
