A press fitting for producing a nondetachable tight connection of smooth-ended pipes which has at least one portion receiving a toroidal sealing element and an adjoining cylindrical area extending in the longitudinal direction, and is provided with a shoulder acting as a stop for the pipe which can be pushed in or pushed on. The sealing element has, in the circumferential direction, at least one portion which is provided with a cross section diverging from the starting cross section in that a bulge extends along the circumference and along the cross-sectional plane and a recess facing the pushed in pipe extends radially in the cross section of the sealing element, the volume of the bulge compared with the starting cross section is at least equal to the volume of the recess lacking at the starting cross section and, before pressing, the recess of the sealing element forms a through-opening in the axial direction viewed in cross section.

Press-fitting for non removable tube coupling

A pipe coupling with a cylindrical pipe, whose smooth end section can be inserted into a fitting that has at least one sleeve-like area extending in the longitudinal direction. At least one sealing ring is arranged between the pipe outer wall and the fitting inner wall. The fitting and the pipe are connected securely to each other by an externally applied pressing tool that acts in a plastically deforming manner on at least one radial plane of the sleeve-like area of the fitting as well as the pipe section located under this. A metal sleeve, which can be placed over the pipe ends by force, is arranged between the pipe outer wall and the fitting inner wall. The fixed axial extension of the metal sleeve surrounds the pipe starting from the pipe end face, and the length of the metal sleeve is selected so as to correspond to the required overlap between the pipe and the fitting. This required overlap is attained when, after placement of the fitting onto the metal sleeve, or after insertion of the pipe and the metal sleeve into the fitting, the end face of the fitting facing the pipe coincides exactly with the end of the metal sleeve, and the sealing ring, seen in cross-section, is penetrated by the metal sleeve.

Pipe coupling

A pipe joint, includes a press fitting with a section that is beaded in cross-section and holds a sealing ring and with a cylindrical area attached thereto that has, at the end of its extension, a flange-like depression forming a stop. The pipe joint also includes a pipe, whose smooth end, after being inserted into the press fitting, comes to rest on the inner stop of the press fitting. A non-detachable, tight pipe joint is formed by means of a pressing tool having at least two pressing jaws encompassing the press fitting after the pressing jaws are closed. During pressing, the pressing jaws act both on the annular bead, including the sealing ring placed therein, and on the cylindrical area of the press fitting. A clamping means that largely prevents the axial displacement of the inserted pipe and whose internal diameter in the non-stressed state is smaller than the smallest external diameter of the inserted pipe permitted by tolerances is arranged in the insertion area for the pipe in the press fitting outside the action area of the pressing jaws.

Pipe joint

A fluid conduit connection includes in combination a cast or molded connecting member; a connecting socket affixed to the connecting member and comprising a standarized sheet metal press fitting having one end thereof attached to the connecting member and comprising a substantially cylindrically portion and, at the other end thereof, an annular groove for housing a sealing member. The press fitting is dimensioned for receiving a substantially cylindrical conduit to be inserted therein and for non-releasably crimping the fitting around the conduit.

Pipe connection

A method is provided of forming a sleeve to tube joint of enhanced resistance to pressure loading and which can be employed with relatively large diameter pipes, in which the sleeve and tube are crimped to each other by diametrically opposite crimps extending concavely inwardly of the outer surface of the sleeve and convexly inwardly of the inner surface of the tube, the respective crimps being isolated from each other by struts extending parallel to the longitudinal axis of the sleeve and tube, provision being made for equalization of the stresses produced in a seal ring contained in an annular flange of the sleeve during compressive reduction of the annular flange, provision also being made for the axial movement of the sleeve relative to the tube during compressive reduction of the flange.

Method of forming a crimped sleeve to tube joint

A tool is provided of forming a sleeve to the joint of enhanced resistance to pressure loading and which can be employed with relatively large diameter pipes, in which the sleeve and tube are crimped to each other by diametrically opposite crimps extending concavely inwardly of the outer surface of the sleeve and convexly inwardly of the inner surface of the tube, the respective crimps being isolated from each other by struts extending parallel to the longitudinal axis of the sleeve and tube, provision being made for equalization of the stresses produced in a seal ring contained in an annular flange of the sleeve during compressive reduction of the annular flange, provision also being made for the axial movement of the sleeve relative to the tube during compressive reduction of the flange.

Tool for forming a crimped sleeve to tube joint
