The invention relates to a method for early recognition of abnormal occurrences in the operation of automatic or automated gearboxes wherein at least one variable A directly or indirectly characterizing the strain on elements which are to be coupled to each other in a non-positive fit is continuously determined after an n-th shift at least until a synchronous rev speed is reached or during a maximum shift period T ; wherein the variable A characterizing the strain on the elements that are to be coupled is mathematically combined with the time, or if several variables A Exist, said variables are mathematically combined with each other and the product of said combination is added up in the form of a variable W ; wherein the product thereof is compared with a first pre-definable or defined threshold value W Which, if exceeded, defines a state from which damage can be deduced and the shift action is aborted.

A process for the control of switching or shifting processes in automatic gears with an allocatable control device for use in drivelines of vehicles with at least one drive motor, especially in the form of an internal combustion engine. In a first process step the actual values of certain travel-dynamics magnitudes for a given time point t are detected or calculated; in a second process step there is determined from the actual values a theoretically achievable connection speed of the drive motor, especially the internal combustion engine, in the actually shifted-in gear for each time step; in a third process step the ascertained connection speed is compared with limit speeds that can be stipulated in a characteristic field of the drive motor, in which in dependence on the comparison results in no switching process, or an upshift- or downshift- switching process is initiated by governing of the setting members actuatable for the carrying-out of a gear change.

Method for controlling a gear-change operation in automatic transmissions

The invention relates to a process for the control of the shifting process of a vehicle with electro-hydraulically actuatable friction elements for the shifting-over between different transmission stages in a vehicle with at least in addition a drive engine in which a current actual value is determined for at least one magnitude characterizing the shift process in each shifting process; the actual value is compared with an establishable and/or storable desired value; on deviation of the actual value from the desired value, the control pressure for the at least indirect influencing of the magnitude characterizing the switching process is adaptively changed by a determinable, calculatable or prescribable first correction value for the achieving of an optimal shifting behavior and the course of the altered magnitude is storable in each case as new characteristic curve of the desired values. The invention is characterized by the following features: in at least the shifting processes in which through a further adaption no satisfactory shifting courses can any longer be insured, at least one actual value--the drive turning rate--is determined for a magnitude characterizing the acceleration of the turning rate to be synchronized in force-flow direction in the drive line on the input side of the coupling at a time point after the beginning of the synchronizing process; the actual value either of the acceleration of the turning rate to be synchronized or of a magnitude at least indirectly characterizing the acceleration of the turning rate to be synchronized, or that of the turning rate to be synchronized, is compared with a desired value; on deviation of the actual value from the desired value the control pressure is altered by a second correction value until the desired value course of the turning rate to be synchronized is set in, and, moreover, the course of the control pressure characteristic curve is replicated at higher pressures.

Methods and apparatus for controlling shifting processes in a vehicle

The invention concerns a method for operation of a drive unit of a vehicle, including a drive machine and a transmission with at least two gears. A quantity that characterizes acceleration of the vehicle and a quantity that characterizes the power of the drive engine are continuously determined. A gear shift speed range and a second speed range bounded by a lowest and highest attainable speed in the target gear can be established for a gear shift process in the initial gear. The gear shift speed range is bounded at least by a lower gear shift speed and an upper gear shift speed and the second speed range is bounded by a lower target speed, as well as an additional speed. The gear shift process is initiated as a function of the determined acceleration. The lower target speed is achieved in a gear shift process in a first limiting stage (high acceleration at low input speeds or limited deceleration at low input speeds) during initiation of a gear shift at a number of gear shift speeds. The gear shift process between the first limiting state and the highest attainable speed in the target gear is initiated as a function of the determined quantities in the gear shift speed range in the initial gear.

The disclosure concerns a universal joint shaft having two coupling forks joined at a journal cross. Various embodiments of aligning apparatus selectively restrict the journal forks to adjust the angle of bend with respect to each other. In one embodiment, a tube radially outside the coupling forks and journal cross is supported on one fork and is driven by a pressure cylinder against the other fork to restrict the bending of the forks with respect to each other at the journal cross. In other embodiments, one or more piston/cylinder units are provided on one of the forks, with the piston being movable against a bearing point on the other fork for restricting the extent to which the other forks may bend. Pressure medium is delivered to the pistons through a pressure medium line controlled by a pressure maintaining valve which is shiftable for permitting pressure medium to pass to the piston/cylinder unit or to stop passing thereto.
