A roll for a rolling mechanism includes a carrier and a roll jacket surrounding the latter which is rotatably journalled on the carrier by bearings arranged at a distance from another. Hydrostatic and/or hydrodynamic support elements are provided between the bearing by which the roll jacket is additionally supported on the carrier. The roll jacket is furthermore braced on the carrier via at least one outer hydrostatic and/or hydrodynamic support element arranged axially outside of the zone bounded by the bearings

Deflection controlled roll. A deflection controlled roll is comprised of a fixed carrier and a roll jacket rotatable about the carrier, with the roll jacket being supported on the carrier via several support elements, wherein each of the support elements has at least one cylinder-piston device, for the formation of a contact force, and a bearing shoe with a separate lubricating fluid supply and wherein the fluid supply of pressure chambers of the cylinder-piston devices is accomplished at least in separate groups, via pressure conduits, with the deflection controlled roll, even though being supported via large number of support elements, being produced in a vibration damping-manner in a simple construction, wherein the pressure conduits have substantially the same length and/or the same volume capacity for the pressure fluid.

Deflection controlled roll

The roll arrangement comprises a controlled deflection roll provided with a roll shell which is rotatable about a stationary carrier and is supported at the latter by support or pressure elements. An additional load bears upon one end of the roll shell. The inherent weight and/or the bending moments caused by the additional load and transmitted to the roll shell are compensated by a supporting structure. As such supporting structure there may be provided a counterweight which acts essentially at the region of the center of gravity of the additional load.

The rolling apparatus contains a controlled deflection roll and, in order to improve uniformity of the roll nip or gap or to more precisely maintain a desired rolling profile, a counter roll contains a journal-less tubular roll or shell which is articulatedly supported at a support beam or at supports of a roll stand. The support distance of the counter roll at the most is equal to the effective support distance in the controlled deflection roll. The bending lines of the controlled deflection roll and of the counter roll thus can be matched in an improved manner.
