A circuit for linearizing the oscillator sweep output frequency signal of a oltage controlled oscillator is disclosed. The voltage controlled oscillator is driven by the output of an op amp, which amplifies and filters the output of a D/A converter. The D/A converter responds to preselected 8-bit words, stored in an EPROM, so as to produce a desired output frequency at each memory address. The addresses, in turn, are provided by a combination of gates, counters, input signals and a clock.

Linearizing circuit for a high frequency voltage controlled oscillator

A pattern generating circuit is disclosed for providing a fixed test pattern to be broadcast on a video display system such that an individual may test or repair the aforementioned video display system. The pattern generating circuit provides a horizontal sync signal, a vertical sync signal, and first and second video component signals which are then summed by a summing amplifier to form a video signal. The horizontal and vertical sync signals are then supplied to the video display system so as to activate the same. This, in turn, allows the video display system, upon receiving the video signal, to broadcast on its display screen the fixed test pattern.

A composite video signal separator for television receivers, laser projecn systems and the like which performs the combined functions of horizontal sync signal separation, vertical sync signal separation, and video signal separation in a single circuit.

Composite video signal separator

A high speed digital to analog converter circuit for converting a plurality f data bytes to corresponding analog signals at very high conversion rates. A computer image generator provides in response to each clock pulse of a first clock signal a set of eight data bytes. Each set of data bytes are then latched alternatively in first storage means or second storage means. Multiplexing means alternatively samples each set of data bytes latched in said first and second storage means, and an octet of digital to analog converters then converts each set of data bytes to a corresponding set of eight analog signals. Gating means, in turn, sequentially passes each set of analog signals so as to form at its output a video information signal which may be utilized to activate an image display apparatus.

High speed digital to analog converter circuit

A computer generated image simulator is disclosed for scanning a visual target and then providing a visual image of the target which is to be displayed upon a reflective display screen such that a trainee pilot may observe the target. A head tracker which monitors the position of the trainee pilot's head, and an eye tracker which monitors the position of the trainee pilot's eyes, respectively provide head and eye orientation signals to be processed by electronic circuitry such that the target which is projected upon the reflective display screen by a helmet mounted projector will be orientated upon the screen in accordance with the orientation of the trainee pilot's head.

Computer generated image simulator

A pattern generator for simulating image generation is disclosed which pets the testing of wide angle, non-programmed visual display systems including, for example, a 360.degree. non-programmed visual display system. The program generator produces a pair of composite signals, the first of which may be utilized by an annular projector to project upon a screen a sawtooth waveform pattern, and the second of which may be utilized by the annular projector to project upon the screen a checkerboard pattern so as to facilitate the testing of wide angle visual display systems.

Pattern generator for simulating image generation

A sawtooth waveform circuit for a cathode ray tube display apparatus or the ike is disclosed for providing a sawtooth waveform signal in synchronization with the uniformly spaced pulses of a sync signal. A direct current voltage is supplied to an integrator which produces a ramp voltage. Switching means responsive to each pulse of the sync signal shorts the integrator so as to cause the ramp voltage to appear at the output of the integrator as a sawtooth waveform signal. A summing amplifier amplifies the sawtooth waveform signal, and then combines the amplified sawtooth waveform signal with a variable direct current voltage generated by a head tracker so as to provide at the output of the summing amplifier a raster drive signal.

Sawtooth waveform generating circuit for utilization in a helmet mounted

A multilayer printed circuit board is disclosed having appropriate ground and voltage planes. The multilayer printed circuit board includes a mounting plane, a plurality of dielectric sheets stacked upon the mounting plane, a plurality of conductive sheets positioned between adjacent dielectric sheets, and a plurality of rectangular shaped apertures passing through the multilayer printed circuit board. Each rectangular shaped aperture of the multilayer printed circuit board has a plurality of voltage connector terminals. Electrical connection from one of the conductive sheets to the appropriate voltage connector terminal is provided by a conductive disc which passes through a hole located within the multilayer printed circuit board.

A charge coupled device signal output summing circuit is disclosed for prding a video data signal to a scan laser projector system which projects an optical image on a 360.degree. wide angle display screen. The charge coupled device signal output summing circuit comprises a linear image sensor which senses the light received from the optical image and produces a pair of output signals, each of which has a plurality of video data components. The video data components of the pair of output signals are then summed by a unique combination of buffers, analog switches, capacitors, a video amplifier, and adder to produce the video data signal.

A marksman training system is disclosed as including a translucent diffuser arget screen adapted for producing a bright spot on the rear surface of the target screen in response to receiving a laser light beam on the front side of the target screen that was fired from a laser rifle. A television camera scans the rear side of the target screen and produces a composite signal representing the position of the light spot on the rear surface of the target screen, after which the composite signal is broken into its X and Y Cartesian component signals and a video signal by a conventional television signal processor. The X and Y component signals consists of numbers of pulses which are shaped and then uniquely counted by digital counters, stored in registers, and converted to a pair of proportional analog voltage signals by digital-to-analog converters. A target recorder reads out the pair of analog voltage signals as a point, the location of which is comparable to the location on the target screen where it was hit by the laser light beam.

Remote target hit monitoring system

A radio communications system is disclosed as incorporating a high freque electrical signal generator employed for energizing a light emitting diode, the latter of which projects its light toward a vibratable, flexible, light-reflecting diaphragm for reflection thereof thereby. The light reflected from said diaphragm is received by a photodiode which, in turn, energizes a radio transmitter with electrical energy that is proportional thereto for the effective broadcast thereof toward a, perhaps, remotely disposed compatible radio receiver and/or other utilization apparatus. The aforesaid diaphragm vibrates in response to an acoustical communication signal applied thereto, thereby causing it to effectively vibrate and modulate the light reflected thereby therewith and, hence, the broadcast thereof toward said remotely disposed radio receiver is ultimately effected.

Electro-optical radio system

A universal timing circuit for enabling numerous different types of charge oupled devices is disclosed which permits the operation thereof to be established over a wide range of counted and programmed clock input frequencies, thereby facilitating experimentation in faster scanning techniques, such as, for example, those which might be required when charge coupled image sensing devices are used as substitutes for vidicon tubes in various and sundry television systems.
