A telemetry system for a plurality of distributed equipment controls and/or equipment monitors that does not require complex masses of wires. The telemetry system includes an output channel for communicating control signals to the equipment controls and/or an input channel for communicating monitored signals from the equipment monitors. The output channel includes a first block of transmitter register stages for receiving a set of control signals from a controller; and a second block of distributed, series-connected parallel-output control register stages connected in series with the first block for receiving the control signals in series from the first block, and respectively positioned at the equipment controls for connection to the equipment controls for providing the control signals to the equipment controls. The input channel includes a third block of distributed series-connected parallel-input monitor register stages respectively positioned at the equipment monitors for connection to the equipment monitors for receiving a set of monitored signals from the equipment monitors; and a fourth block of receiver register stages connected in series with the third block for receiving the monitored signals in series from the third block. Signal transfer to the intended register stages is solely in response to a clock signal consisting of a series of clock pulses and a frame pulse for defining each frame of the clock signal.

Telemetry system for distributed equipment controls and equipment

A buffer system for interfacing an intermittently accessing data processor to a communications system in which the transfer of data bits is clocked at a predetermined rate in response to clock pulses provided by a communications system clock signal. The system includes a random access memory (RAM) for storing input signal data bytes received from an input communications channel of the communications system and for storing output signal data bytes for transmission to an output communications channel of the communications system; and a port interface section that is responsive to the system clock signal for serially receiving and transmitting input signal data bytes from the input channel, for storing output signal data bytes to the output channel and for providing a flag signal to demarcate the data bytes. A transfer control signal generator responds to the flag signal by generating a sequence of transfer control signals for causing the RAM to store input signal data bytes from the port interface section, for enabling output signal data bytes stored in the RAM to be transferred to the port interface section, and for terminating the flag signal. The transfer control signal generator is adapted to respond to preemption signals provided while the RAM is accessed by the data processor by interrupting its sequential generation of transfer control signals during the interval of the preemption signal and to respond to the termination of the preemption signal by resuming said sequential generation of transfer control signals at the point of interruption.

Buffer system for interfacing an intermittently accessing data processor

Apparatus controls the maximum pressure of the fluid which can flow through a pump. The apparatus includes a disposable unit with an inlet for receiving fluid from a source, an outlet for transferring the fluid to a patient and a chamber communicating between the inlet and the outlet. A diaphragm across the chamber is constrained in accordance with the pressure of the fluid in the chamber. The diaphragm transmits the constraint to a stiffener. The disposable unit is removably attached to the pump casing. A knob is externally disposed on the pump casing and is adjustable to control the maximum force of the fluid in the disposable unit. The knob controls the force exerted on biasing means in a first direction. A force is also exerted against the biasing means in a second direction opposite to the first direction. This force is dependent upon the force on the stiffener. The biasing means may include a spring. The force on the biasing means in the first direction is provided by a back-up member which is pivotable at one end and is disposed against the spring at an intermediate position and is provided with an adjustable lever arm dependent upon the adjustment of the knob. The force in the opposite direction is transmitted by the stiffener to a diaphragm in the pump casing. This diaphragm in turn transmits the force to a vane which is pivotable at one end and is disposed against the spring at an intermediate position. Sensor means are coupled to the vane to provide an output indication after the vane has overcome the bias provided on the spring in the first direction.
