Poly(ethylene terephthalate) monofilaments having improved loop strength and toughness as well as improved tensile strength and tensile toughness. The yarns can have a loop toughness of at least 2 gf/den, a loop tenacity of at least 7 gf/den, a tensile toughness of at least 0.9 gf/den, a tensile tenacity of at least 4 gf/den, and a DSC crystallinity of at least 35%. A process for the production of poly(ethylene terephthalate) monofilaments includes melt extrusion, orientation of the extrudates by stretching, and further stretching as well as heat treating the stretched monofilaments. Industrial fabrics, especially fabrics for paper machine clothing, can be made of such monofilaments as load bearing yarns that resist loop failure and that resist fabric creep at high temperature and high load.

PET yarns with improved loop tensile properties

An endless fabric belt subjected to a substantial running tension. The belt has an endless woven fabric formed from a plurality of MD (machine direction) ultra high molecular weight polymer strands approaching zero creep at high tensile loads. A plurality of CMD (cross machine direction) strands are interwoven with the MD strands. The plurality of MD strands have first and second ends spliced to one another to form an endless belt, the splices forming a significant linear MD overlap of about 30 cm with each other.

Monofilament made from a polymeric blend, wherein the polymer blend includes at least a first and a second polymer component wherein the first polymer component is polyamide (PA) 612 added to the blend in an amount of 50% to 99% by weight and that a second polymer component is at least one other polyamide added to the blend in an amount of 1% to 49% by weight and that per denier the monofilament has a resistance to withstand at least 60 cycles of abrasion testing.

A polyester composition comprising from 90 to 97% by weight of at least one polyester derived from the condensation of 1,4-cyclohexane dimethanol and at least one dicarboxylic acid or an ester thereof, from 0.1 to 5% by weight of at least one primary anti-oxidant defined as an alkyl and/or alkyl peroxy radical scavenger, from 0.1 to 5% by weight of at least one secondary anti-oxidant defined as a compound capable of decomposing a hydroperoxide, from 1 to 4% by weight of at least one polyamide terpolymer. Utility of such a composition includes use in a monofilament yarn or fiber, use in a papermachine clothing including such a monofilament yarn or fiber and/or including the polyester composition.

An antistatic polymer monofilament of this invention comprises a polymer composite of a thermoplastic polymer as a matrix and carbon nanotubes as a conductive filler. A process of this invention for manufacturing an antistatic polymer monofilament comprising the steps of blending in an extruder a thermoplastic polymer and carbon nanotubes and extruding monofilaments from said blend. An industrial fabric of this invention, which is usable in nonwoven and papermaking machines, said fabric comprising monofilaments for dissipating static charges, said monofilaments including a thermoplastic polymer matrix and a filler of carbon nanotubes.
