A light emitting device comprising a photonic crystal structure having a crystal structure in which nanospheres are densely arranged in a 3D manner, wherein the nanospheres have phosphors excited by an excitation source to emit light of a wavelength longer than a pump photon of the excitation source, wherein the photonic crystal structure has at least a photonic bandgap (PBG) along a specific crystal orientation, and wherein the wavelength of the pump photon overlaps a photonic bandedge region.

Disclosed herein is a method of manufacturing a laterally graded porous silicon optical filter through diffusion-limited etching. The change in resonance frequency of the porous silicon layer in a taper axis direction is adjusted using the diffusion of reactive ions in an etchant under conditions of use of a related etch mask pattern. It is possible to manufacture an optical band-pass filter having a resonance frequency that linearly changes using a tapered etch window opening.

A new high-performance, compact microgyroscope is implemented using a microlaser such as a microsphere laser or a microdisc laser that can be easily reduced in size. The microgyroscope includes a pumping unit for inputting pumping light for optical pumping, at least one microsphere or microdisc for oscillating a laser beam by performing optical pumping using light received from the pumping unit, an output coupler for receiving the oscillated laser beam from the microsphere or microdisc, and a photodetector for calculating a beat frequency due to interference between beams output from the output coupler to measure rotation. The pumping unit and the output coupler are constructed using a tapered optical fiber.
