Generally, the subject matter disclosed herein relates to length-adjustable pressure-retaining components used in piping systems. In one illustrative embodiment, a device comprising a first pressure component and an adjustable spacer ring operatively coupled to the first pressure component is disclosed, wherein the adjustable spacer ring is adapted to adjust a combined overall length of said the pressure component and the adjustable spacer ring.

The present invention is directed to an insulation shroud with internal support structure. In one illustrative embodiment, the insulation shroud includes a body adapted to be positioned around a subsea component, the body including an insulating material having an internal support structure positioned therein and a door.

A wellhead isolation tool for use with a wellhead assembly from which a tubing string is suspended comprises a tubular mandrel which includes an axial passage that extends therethrough and lower end that is adapted to engage the tubing string, a pumping head which is connected over the wellhead assembly and which includes an internal chamber that is in fluid communication with the axial passage and a port that extends through the pumping head to the chamber, and an actuator which is connected over the pumping head for moving the mandrel axially through the pumping head and into engagement with the tubing string. When the mandrel is engaged with the tubing string, fluid may be communicated through the port, the chamber and the mandrel and into the tubing string.

Wellhead isolation tool

A centralizer for guiding a well servicing tool through the bore of a BOP stack or the like and into a radially eccentric position within a wellhead assembly, the centralizer comprising a mandrel having a top end which is connected to a running string and a bottom end to which the well servicing tool is connected, a collar having at least one eccentric hole through which the mandrel extends, the collar being rotatably connected to the mandrel, and an energy absorbing bumper supported above the collar and having at least one opening in alignment with the hole in the collar through which the top end of the mandrel projects; wherein the distance between the center of the collar and the center of the eccentric hole is selected to correspond to the radial distance between the center of the BOP bore and the eccentric position within the wellhead assembly; and wherein the outer diameters of both the collar and the bumper are selected to be only slightly smaller than the diameter of the BOP bore; such that the collar and the bumper will maintain the mandrel, and thus the tool, in alignment with the eccentric position as the tool is being run into the wellhead.

According to the present invention, there is provided a device for guiding a tool on a string within a blow out prevention ('BOP') stack. In one embodiment, the device includes a top collar connected to a bottom collar by a shroud having a plurality of flexible members which bow outwardly from the collars, wherein the shroud covers a portion of the tool. An energy absorbing bumper is provided above the top collar to absorb structural impact caused by a blow out or other inadvertant pressure in a downhole application.

A retrieval tool for retrieving a back pressure valve and tree test plug (generally, a check valve) has a spear formed as a solid ring at the bottom with free fingers extending upward. The fingers are resilient and have protrusions adapted to engage a retrieval groove in the check valve. A wedge ring is provided on the tool body to positively lock the fingers in radially outward engagement with the retrieval groove. The wedge ring is fixed to the body by a shear pin so that upon a predetermined axial force the pin shears and releases the wedge ring allowing withdrawal of the tool assembly, if the check valve is stuck in a tubing hanger or coupling.

A test plug for sealing a bore within a tubing hanger comprising an annular plug body having an axial bore extending therethrough, the axial bore forming a tapered annular seat and an enlarged receptacle within the plug body; a plurality of support dogs retractably mounted within corresponding slots formed in the plug body adjacent a lower portion of the receptacle; a mandrel slidably received within the receptacle, the mandrel having a downwardly and outwardly facing cam surface formed on a lower portion thereof; and a stinger having a tapered closure member adapted to be received in the annular seat, a spring for biasing the closure member against the seat and a seal ring for providing a fluid-tight seal between the closure member and the seat; wherein each support dog comprises an inner beveled edge formed on an upper portion thereof which preferably matches the cam surface of the mandrel, such that when the mandrel is set the cam surface will engage the beveled edge and urge the support dogs into an annular recess formed in the tubing hanger to thereby secure the test plug within the tubing hanger; and wherein the mandrel comprises an inwardly extending annular collar and the stinger comprises an outwardly extending ring forming a downwardly facing annular shoulder which overlaps the collar above the closure member, such that the closure member will not seal against the annular seat unless the mandrel is fully set, and the mandrel will release the closure member from the annular seat during retrieval of the test plug to thereby equalize the pressure above and below the test plug.
