Provided herein are butyl rubber based pressure sensitive adhesive compositions comprising low molecular weight polyisobutylene oligomers and a multifunctional crosslinker. These adhesive compositions can exhibit high adhesion and shear resistance without requiring curing at high temperature to provide the compositions with these advantageous performance properties. Also provided are adhesive tapes and methods using the disclosed adhesive compositions.

Butyl rubber based pressure sensitive adhesives

Vibration damping viscoelastic damping material laminates are described. The tapes generally include at least two viscoelastic damping material layers and at least one substrate. The tapes may optionally include one or more release liners. Also described are constrained layer systems formed by adhering the tape to a first substrate and/or second substrate undergoing vibration.

Multilayer tape

Provided herein are multilayer tape constructions comprising a damping layer and a bonding layer, wherein the multilayer tape construction effectively dissipates vibrations at low temperatures. The materials and configurations of the layers are selected such that the glass transition temperature of the bonding layer is greater than the glass transition of the damping layer, and the difference between the glass transition temperatures is related to the relative thicknesses of the damping layer and the bonding layer. The multilayer tape constructions may further comprise a carrier layer. Also provided are systems and methods using the disclosed multilayer tape constructions.

Multilayer tape constructions for low-temperature vibration damping with tunable adhesion

Provided herein are multilayer damping laminates comprising at least one constraining layer and at least one discontinuous damping layer. At least one discontinuous damping layer comprises one or more damping material regions and one or more gap regions, wherein the percent coverage of at least one discontinuous damping layer by one or more damping material regions is less than 99%. Also provided are systems and methods using the multilayer damping laminates.

Partial coverage multilayer damping laminate

Adhesive tapes are described which find particular application for sealing joints or regions between adjacent panels such as rigid foam insulation panels. Also described are methods of using the sealing tapes and systems of sealed panels using the sealing tapes.

Tape with acrylic-free adhesive

Provided herein is are multilayer damping laminates comprising alternating damping and constraining layers. The materials and configurations of the damping layers are selected such that the damping layers have a decreasing glass transition temperature profile beginning at the first damping layer, allowing the laminates to effectively dissipate vibrations over a wider range of operating temperatures and/or frequencies. Also provided are systems and methods using the multilayer damping laminates.

Multilayer constrained-layer damping

Adhesive compositions are described which are useful for damping vibration associated with hard disk drives. The adhesive compositions include a combination of at least two partially immiscible acrylic copolymers such that the compositions exhibit at least two distinct glass transition temperatures. Also described are label assemblies utilizing such adhesives and related methods of use.
