Provided are a quick disconnect tool and a male connector configured for removably mounting a device on a surface. The tool includes a socket, detents in the socket and a collar to open and close the detents. The male connector fits within the socket and cannot rotate within the socket. The male connector has at a first end a recess into which the detents can lock the male connector inside the socket and threads at a second end opposite the first end. Also provided is a method removably mounting a device to a surface using the quick disconnect too and the male connector.

A football pad securing device includes a pad assembly with a pair of shoulder pads each having a back covering and a chest covering. Elongated slots extend through each of the chest coverings. Each of a pair of loops is attached to one of the back coverings. Each of a pair of straps has a first end, a second end, a first side and a second side. Couplers are fixedly attached to the first ends. The couplers are removably securable to the slots. Each of a pair of hook and loop assemblies is attached to one of the straps and selectively attaches the first sides of the straps to themselves. The couplers are coupled to one of the slots and each of the second ends is extended through one of the loops. The hook and loop assemblies then secured the straps to the loops.

Football pad securing device and method

A harvesting machine particularly suitable for picking or harvesting vegetables, such as peppers or tomatoes, employs a harvesting frame on which is mounted a rotating shaft aligned transversely to the direction of movement of the machine. A pair of spaced apart picking members are mounted on the shaft on opposite sides of a row of plants having a crop to be harvested. The picking members are simultaneously rotated; and each of them has a plurality of arcuate picking elements pivotally mounted on them. The picking elements rotate with the picking members in the same direction of movement of the machine; and as the picking elements rotate downwardly above the row of plants, a cam pivots them into a position adjacent the picking members, spaced away from a plant located between the picking members. As the machine passes over the plant, the picking elements are moved by a second cam into a position to extend into the space between the picking members to engage the plant to be picked and remove crop therefrom for deposition onto a conveyor for removal from the machine.

Mechanized harvesting machine with rotating picking elements

A pair of rigid, spaced apart arms (30,31)extend outwardly to one side from the upper end of an upright, tiltable frame 20 and a pair of spaced apart wheels 40 extend outwardly to the one side from the lower end of the upright frame for transportably supporting the frame on a flat surface. A rigid lever arm 50 and rest 60 affixed to the frame extend from the other side of the upright frame. The spacing between the arms and wheel supports is predetermined to allow the arms to be engaged underneath the upper rim adjacent the widest diameter of a standard, hot, sealed, 55 gallon drum filled with cooked food products and liquid by raising the lower arm and moving the arms into position under the rim until a restraining strap contacts the drum cylindrical wall. The drum is then lifted by pulling down on the lever arm fulcruming on the wheel support points to swing the bottom end of the drum inboardly while supported at its upper end on the arms until the center of gravity of the drum positioned directly over the wheel support points on the surface and the drum straddled by the wheel supports. The drum may be easily transported in this position, or put at rest by further lowering the lever arm until rest 60 contacts the surface and the center of gravity of the drum is intermediate the three-point surface contact. A single operator performs the entire moving operation without any personnel touching the drum.

In a multi-station machine (10) each station (23,24,25,26) is configured to receive through a gate (90) of a drum encircling holder (50) a sealed 55 gallon drum (200) full of hot cooked food which is supported about its periphery at its midpoint (203) between its two central ribs (201,204) on a plurality of vertical padded (58) stanchions (55,71,84,91) affixed to the drum encircling holder. The holder is rotatably supported (52,81) at its sides in a support frame (40). A variety of pulley drives (110,130,150,160) connect to a central drive (100,105) to rotate each holder (and drum) independently of all others, or in linked fashion, as desired. Cold water (306,307) is sprayed (300) on each rotating drum from individual overhead sprayers (302,303,304) for each station.

Drum cooler

A mechanized harvesting machine, particularly suitable for picking or harvesting vegetables such a peppers or tomatoes employs a harvesting member having a rotating shaft aligned transversely to the direction of movement of the machine above the row of plants which are to be harvested. First and second picking members are mounted in spaced relationship on the shaft on opposite sides of a row of plants having a crop to be harvested. The picking members are simultaneously rotated, and each have a plurality of arcuate picking elements on them. The picking elements extend into the space between the two picking members, and operate to strip the crop from the plants while leaving the plants in a relatively undisturbed condition after they have been picked. A flat platform or guide is located beneath the picking members on each side of the row of plants to be picked, and high-pressure air is directed over this platform to move harvested crops from beneath the picking members to a location at the rear of the harvesting member, from which the crops are removed by means of a conveyor.

Mechanized non-destructive crop harvesting machine

Apparatus is disclosed for cooling large sealed drums (typically fifty-five gallon drums) of cooked food products. The size of such large drums makes them difficult to handle, since they typically weigh in excess of five hundred pounds when full. The cooling apparatus comprises a main frame structure which has a support shaft rotatably attached to it and elevated above the base of the frame a distance sufficient to provide clearance for a vertically oriented drum to pass underneath it. The support shaft has a support frame on it with six, equally spaced, radially arranged, drum support platforms and clamp members attached to it. A drum is rolled onto one of these platforms from an adjacent fixed platform. Once it is in place, it is clamped onto the support frame, and the next support platform is rotated into place. Once drums are located in all six of the positions, the device is continuously rotated in a cooling water spray to rapidly cool the contents of the drums. The rotation causes a tumbling action of the contents to ensure a mixing of the contents to bring all of the contents into contact with the inner surface of the drum during the cooling operation, so that cooling is rapidly and effectively accomplished.

Apparatus for processing products in large sealed drums

A mechanized harvesting machine particularly suitable for picking or harvesting vegetables such as peppers and tomatoes uses a single rotating helical guide member carried on a shaft aligned longitudinally above the row of plants to thread its way through the plants with minimal disturbance. Arcuate picking elements are attached between the helical guide and the shaft for pushing and pulling the vegetables or other crops to be harvested from the plant, as the helical guide member is rotated through the row of plants. The guide member is operated parallel to the ground and turns in a single direction, leaving the plants in a relatively undisturbed condition after they have been picked so that the plants may be used to grow a subsequent crop. The harvesting machine includes conveyor belts located on opposite sides of the helical guide member for catching the vegetables after they have been picked to convey them to a convenient storage bin on the machine.

Beginning with data cards which carry thereon a question or a statement to be a subject of a survey, such cards being pre-punched with appropriate indicia signifying the question being asked or the position being tested, the interviewer submits such position or question-carrying card to the interviewee who, upon reading the question or statement to himself, selects one of several possible categories between two extremes, as represented by a slot in a sequentially designated series of slots in a container, inserts such card in the selected slot representing his degree of agreement or disagreement with the question or position statement, such card being automatically received by an envelope marked correspondingly to the designation adjacent the slot, for later sorting and computer compilation of all the cards in each envelope and survey results which are free, to a maximum degree, from interviewer influence of interviewee.
