A powder dispenser includes a powder housing for holding a supply of powdered material to be dispensed, the powder housing including an inhalation conduit provided displaced relation to the powdered material supply; a metering plate including a metered dose hole for holding a metered amount of the powdered material, and positioned below the powdered material supply, the metering plate and the powder housing being relatively rotatable with respect to each other about a common central axis; a counter providing a visual count of the number of doses of the powdered material that have been dispensed or remain to be dispensed in response to the relative rotation, the counter including counter rings providing the visual count, the counter rings being rotatable about the common central axis and having indicia thereon which display the visual count, and an actuating mechanism rotatable about the central axis for incrementally rotating the counter rings in response to the relative rotation; a nozzle for breaking up agglomerates of powdered material from the inhalation conduit to form micronized powdered material, the nozzle including a cavity for changing the direction of flow of the powder from the direction of the inhalation conduit to a second different direction, and a curved wall for substantially continuously changing the direction of flow of the powder in a spiral manner in the second direction in the cavity; and a closure cap covering the powder housing and priming the powder dispenser for use automatically upon removal thereof.

A powder dispenser assembly includes a container for holding a supply of powdered material, the container including a conduit extending therethrough; a metering plate rotatably mounted with respect to the container beneath the supply of powdered material for supplying the powdered material to the conduit, the metering plate including perforated areas therein, each adapted to hold one metered amount of the powdered material, and a first set of ratchet teeth; a blade assembly for scraping the powdered material into the perforated areas, the blade assembly being positioned between the supply of powdered material and the metering plate; a mouthpiece for enabling inhalation of the metered amount of powdered material from one selected perforated area through the conduit; a base rotatably mounted with the container; a spring plate for biasing the metering plate into biased contact with the blade assembly, the spring plate being non-rotatably mounted in the base and including a second set of ratchet teeth for engaging the first set of ratchet teeth to provide engagement between the spring plate and the metering plate such that rotation of the bas relative to the container causes rotation of the metering plate relative to the container, and spring fingers for biasing the second set of ratchet teeth into engagement with the first set of ratchet teeth and for biasing the metering plate into engagement with the blade assembly; and a rotation limiting mechanism for limiting rotation of the base relative to the container to an incremental angle of rotation.

A crystal forming device includes a base plate having a plurality of wells therein, each well adapted to receive a reservoir solution therein and each well having a bottom and a circumferential side wall connected With the bottom to define a chamber therein, the side wall having an upper circumferential edge defining an upper opening of the well; a single removable cover for covering all of the wells, the single removable cover having a lower surface which rests on the upper circumferential edges of the wells to seal the wells and to thereby seal the chambers, the cover having a plurality of circular beads formed on the lower surface thereof, the circular beads corresponding in position to the upper circumferential edges of the wells and the circular beads extending in surrounding relation to respective the upper circumferential edges when the cover is positioned on the base plate; and a silicon grease applied to the upper circumferential edges for sealing the lower surface of the single removable cover to each the well to define a plurality of sealed crystallization chambers.
