A crossbow includes a stock, a riser mounted to the stock, left upper and lower mounting brackets attached to the riser, right upper and lower mounting brackets attached to the riser, and cam assemblies respectively mounted to proximal ends of the upper and lower mounting brackets. The crossbow includes first and second limbs respectively attached to distal ends of the left and right upper and lower sides of the riser. A draw string extends between the first and second cam assemblies over the stock and is wrapped around outer surfaces of the cam assemblies. The crossbow includes power cables crossing inside of the stock to form a crossing pattern and traverse a centerline of the stock. The power cables respectively wrap around the cam assemblies through helical take-up journal assemblies extending below each cam assembly, and the power cables respectively connect to opposing limbs at distal ends of the limbs.

In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, a riser for an archery bow is manufactured by providing a flat workpiece, forming the flat workpiece to a pre-bent profile of an archery riser, placing the flat workpiece in a press, and bending the flat workpiece to a desired non-flat shape of the archery riser. Preferably, the flat workpiece is an aluminum sheet in a T4 aluminum condition. Further, after the non-flat shape is created, the riser can optionally be cured to a T6 aluminum condition, a less soft condition.

Typically a limb for an archery bow has a butt section or end attachable to a bow riser, a middle or hinge section and an opposing tip section or end. In a preferred embodiment, the present method and limb includes a rib section formed in the middle or hinge portion of the limb. This allows a narrowed front-profile to be presented in the hinge section, while maintaining the total cross-sectional area. In one preferred method, at least one half of a mold is formed to define a rib section in the hinge section of the limb. Preferably the rib section runs longitudinally along the length of the hinge section, and may include a tapered profile along the edges and ends of the rib. In another preferred embodiment, the limb, including a rib section, is curved prior to assembly into an archery bow.

One preferred embodiment of the present invention provides a cam having an axle location for mounting the cam to an archery bow, where the center of mass of the cam is substantially coaxial with the axle location. Preferable the cam has an eccentric geometric rotation profile with regard to a rotation axis, typically an irregular geometry with a non-centered axle location, or a circular profile with an axle location offset from the center of the circular profile. The mass of the cam is balanced to have an effectively equal mass distribution around the axle location. In an alternate preferred embodiment, the cam has a balanced center of mass aligned with the axle location in an X-Y orientation, and may also have a balanced center of mass through the thickness of the cam in an X-Z or Y-Z orientation.

Certain preferred embodiments of the present invention use a dual constraint system to align an archery bow limb with a limb cup on a riser. Preferably the limb is aligned so that the centerline of the limb is aligned with the centerline of the riser. The plane of the limb is also constrained to facilitate this centerline alignment and to prevent excessive clearance between the limb, limb pocket and corresponding riser. In certain preferred embodiments, the present invention uses taper or wedge geometry in both the X-Y and X-Z planes along the length and separately along the depth of the limb cup engagement with the archery bow limb. Preferably this provides two complimentary locking mechanisms between the limb and limb cup.

An archery bow including a bow speed specific sight pin block having sight pin openings for sight pins located therein relative to each other at fixed distances for a given bow speed, so that when a single sight pin is manually positioned to indicate its corresponding arrow flight range, each of the other sight pins in the other openings will be in position to indicate their corresponding arrow flight range. The sight pin block may be mounted in a riser opening and allen screws may be included in the bowsight pin block frame for moving wedges located in the bowsight pin block frame into engagement with a sidewall of the riser opening for mounting the bowsight pin block in the riser opening.
