A connector for coupling to a base of medical device equipped with a circular hub having an annular recess. The connector includes a cap having a top surface, a bottom surface, a circumferential region defining a bottom plane and a periphery, and at least two arms substantially parallel to the bottom plane. Each arm spans at least two portions within the circumferential region to releasably engage the annular recess. At least one deflection member that is accessible from the top surface is positioned to deflect the arms. Pressing the connector onto the circular hub engages the arms with the annular recess so the connector can rotate completely about the circular hub. Pressing at least one deflection member to reversibly deflect at least one arm between its two portions of the circumferential region towards the periphery disengages the arm from the annular recess to decouple the connector.

A surgical drape for use during surgery of a patient includes a sheet that is configured for covering at least a portion of the patient during surgery. At least one instrument holder strap is attached to a front surface of the drape, the strap having a first end affixed to the drape, an opposite releasable attachment end, and an elastomeric section between the affixed end and the attachment end such that the strap can be stretched to attach surgical instruments to various locations on the drape.

A surgical drape for use during surgery includes a sheet that is configured for covering at least a portion of a patient. The sheet has a top surface and a bottom surface that is opposite from the top surface. An expandable member is carried by the sheet. The expandable member has an unexpanded orientation and an expanded orientation. The expandable member forms a raised portion when in the expanded orientation.

An elastomeric glove that contains zones of differing water vapor transmission rates is provided. The glove contains at least one liquid and vapor impermeable zone, i.e., 'moisture-impermeable' zone. Such moisture-impermeable zones generally have a WVTR of less than about 1500 g/m/24 hours. Further, the glove also contains at least one liquid-impermeable, but vapor-permeable zone, i.e., 'breathable' zone. Such breathable zones generally have a WVTR of at least about 250 g/m/24 hours. As a result, the glove may sufficiently inhibit liquids and moisture from contacting the hand during use, and allow water vapor that would otherwise accumulate on the skin of a user to escape from the glove, thereby enhancing the comfort of the user's hands during long periods of use.

An absorbent binder coating including monoethylenically unsaturated polymer units, polyacrylate ester units that include an alkoxysilane functionality, and polyolefin glycol units and/or polyolefin oxide units, can be applied to various substrates. For example, the coating can be self-applied to an article of clothing or to a person's skin to provide absorbency. Alternatively, the coating can provide moisture absorbency, as well as adhesive properties, when incorporated into various articles including medical devices, wound dressings, laminates, absorbent garments, packaging materials, and horticultural products.

The invention relates to a gown having a gown body, an inflatable chamber capable of selectively inflating and deflating carried by the gown body, and a shaping element carried by the gown body. The shaping element is directly responsive to inflation of the inflatable chamber so that the shaping element is moved from an initial arrangement to a subsequent arrangement by inflation of the chamber. Upon subsequent deflation, the shaping member retains its shape. The entire structure is suitable for the self-assisted donning of a surgical gown.

A disposable face mask includes a mask body covering substantially a nose and mouth of a wearer, and a connecting means included with the mask body. The connecting means includes a pair of ties, an elastic cord, and/or an extension having lateral panels which have a connectable section. A cord is coupled to and extends between at least one pair of lateral panels. The connecting means is configured to releasable encircle a back of a wearer's head to hold a mask body in position over a wearer's nose and mouth.

A surgical drape for use during surgery of a patient is provided. The surgical drape includes a sheet that is configured for covering at least a portion of the patient during surgery. At least one diverting feature is located on the sheet, and has substantially the same fluid absorbent properties as a section of the sheet that is immediately adjacent to the diverting feature. The diverting feature is configured for at least partially transferring fluid from one location on the sheet to another location on the sheet.

A cup-shaped face mask sized to fit over the nose and mouth of a wearer is disclosed. The face mask includes an inside surface, an outside surface, and a tab disposed on and extending outwardly from the outside surface, where the tab is adapted for gripping.

A face mask is disclosed. The face mask includes an inside surface, an outside surface having at least one edge, and at least one loop having a first end and a second end attached to the outside surface, where the loop is less than about 80 millimeters in length.

A stack of face masks is disclosed. The stack is formed from a plurality of shaped face masks having an inside surface and an outside surface. The inside surface includes a periphery with an adhesive material disposed on at least a portion thereof. The masks are positioned in a nestled relation to one another, the inside surface of the mask being apposed to the outside surface of an adjacent mask, thereby forming a stack. The masks are adapted to maintain a distance between apposed masks so that the periphery of a mask does not contact the outside surface of an apposed mask.

A protective garment, such as a surgical gown, includes areas subjected to tensile stretching forces when worn by a wearer. Such areas may correspond to back shoulder regions of the garment. Elastomeric patches are provided in at least one of the identified areas subjected to the tensile stretching forces, the elastomeric patches being generally surrounded by the remaining garment material.

The present invention is directed to a method of manufacturing a single-use, disposable absorbent laminate containing one or more layers of hydrophilic meltspun material bonded to a breathable film. The meltspun fabric layer may include at least one spunbonded fabric, meltblown fabric or other nonwoven fabric that is made hydrophilic prior to bonding to the film. The filaments or microfibers of the spunbonded or meltblown fabrics may contain a hydrophilic additive in or on the filaments or microfibers. The film of the surgical drape remains breathable while enabling the laminate to resist penetration by liquids and viruses.

A method is provided for defining areas of a protective garment, such as a surgical gown, that are subjected to tensile stretching forces when worn by a wearer. Once identified, such areas may be substituted with elastomeric patches so that restrictive forces experienced by wearers of the garment are relieved.
