A purge control system providing a non-hazardous environment within an electronics enclosure comprises a purge air box housing non-electrical components having fluid communication lines between them. An outlet supplies inert gas under pressure from a supply to the enclosure and an inlet receives inert gas under pressure from the enclosure. A pressure regulator mounted in the box in fluid communication with the supply provides the air to a manifold distributing air to a flow meter providing flow of air to the enclosure through the outlet and determining rate of flow to the outlet; a signal valve having one inlet communicating with the manifold and another inlet communicating with the inlet; the signal valve having an outlet providing a pneumatic signal when pressure is received at the inlet; a first pneumatic light on the box connected to the outlet of the signal valve indicates the status of air coming from the enclosure; a time-delay pneuamtic relay connected to the outlet of the signal valve providing a delayed signal responsive to the signal received by the signal valve; an explosion-proof, pneumatically operated switch connected to the output of the time-delay relay providing electrical power to the enclosure responsive to the delayed signal; a second pneumatic light on the box responsive to the delayed signal indicating the status of electrical power. The system includes a two-way valve actuating an alarm when pressure from the enclosure falls below a predetermined value.

Purge air control system

A totally pneumatic crane warning system is disclosed capable of use in oil well environments. The crane warning system utilizes a pneumatic function generator. The pneumatic function generator includes a means for receiving a linear pneumatic signal that may be representative of a boom angle and translating that signal to a non-linear output representative of the maximum load capacity of the crane at that angle. This function is accomplished through the use of a rolling cam machined to represent the functional relationship between the boom angle and the maximum load capacity at that angle. This relationship has been found to be non-linear in nature. A pneumatic control circuit is utilized in conjunction with the rolling cam to effect the pneumatic output signal that is representative of the maximum load capacity at a given boom angle. The crane warning system is further provided with a means for comparing the maximum load signal with the actual load of the crane and actuating a pneumatic warning device when the actual weight exceeds the maximum load capacity output of the function generator.

An inclinometer test assembly comprising a horizontal base plate, a vertical column mounted on the base plate, a support arm pivotally mounted intermediate its ends on the column, the arm having a longitudinally extending recess for receiving the cylindrical body of an inclinometer therein for the purpose of testing the inclinometer, a finger-like clip securing the inclinometer body within the recess, a three-point adjustment for the leveling of the base plate, a pointer plate and a degree plate mounted on the arm and column, respectively, for the positioning of the arm at a predetermined angle relative to the true vertical in order to test the inclinometer.

A hydraulic pressure integrator for averaging a plurality of independent input pressures comprising a base plate, a pivot plate mounted above the base plate for pivotal movement about a horizontal pivot axis disposed above and parallel to the base plate, a plurality of input cylinders mounted between the base plate and the pivot plate, each input cylinder having a slidable input piston mounted therein and adapted to contact the pivot plate along a given side of the pivot axis, and a single output cylinder mounted between the base plate and the pivot plate and having an output piston slidably mounted therein and adapted to contact the base plate on a side of the pivot axis opposite from the input pistons, each input cylinder receiving one of the independent input pressures. When the input pressures raise the input pistons contacting the pivot plate, the resulting force creates a torque along the pivot axis, thereby depressing the output piston and producing an output pressure from the output cylinder which is an average of the input pressures.

Hydraulic pressure integrator

An inclinometer for determining the inclination of a well bore including a longitudinally extending housing adapted to be lowered into the well bore to a given depth, a marking element mounted in the upper part of the housing and being suspended from a point along the central axis of the housing, the marking element having a marking tip at the lower end located on a true vertical line from the suspension point, a rotatable chart member having a chart thereon mounted in the housing below the marking element and normally spaced from the marking tip thereon, the chart member being movable along the longitudinal axis of the housing and upwardly into engagement with the marking tip, whereby the marking tip will make a mark on the chart, mechanism mounted within the housing for moving the chart member at two spaced times into engagement with the marking tip, the chart moving mechanism including means for rotating the chart during the interval between the two times while, simultaneously, insuring that the chart member is provided with axial movement only during the two times when the chart member is moved upwardly into engagement with the marking tip.
