A composite article useful as a material of construction made of a plurality of individual pieces of corrugated cardboard cut from scrap corrugated boxes or sheets. The corrugated pieces lie in a shingle-like configuration, a bridge-like configuration, or a combination thereof and form multiple, generally planar layers of individual corrugated cardboard pieces having a length only a fraction of the full length of the article. The material of construction is particularly useful in making shipping pallets to replace wood pallets currently in use and as a substitute for wood products in general.

Composite article made from used or surplus corrugated boxes or sheets

A composite article useful as a material of construction made of a plurality of substantially aligned, individual pieces of corrugated cardboard cut from scrap corrugated boxes or sheets. The corrugated pieces lie in a shingle-like configuration, a bridge-like configuration, or a combination thereof and form multiple, generally planar layers of individual corrugated cardboard pieces having a length only a fraction of the full length of the article. The material of construction is particularly useful in making shipping pallets to replace wood pallets currently in use.

An improved corner post including a right angle paper member having a pair of right angle legs joined at an apex and a hard, dense right angle paper spine adhered to the apex of the paper member and including an adhesive such as a hot melt extending along the apex between the spine and the apex.

Corner post having laminated paperboard spine

A corner post including an elongated member of corrugated in a right angle and a sheet of solid fibreboard laminated to the outside surface of the angle. The solid fibreboard laminate has end flaps extending beyond the end of the corrugated which in packaging systems may be grasped for lifting of packaged articles and loads from the top or may be folded over on themselves forming an end section receivable in slots in the corner of a tray forming an integrated packaging system.

Corner post and packaging system

A cargo air bag inflation valve and inflator combination comprising a tubular plastic valve body having a central passageway for the flow of compressed air to permit the inflating of an air bag. Valve closure means is reciprocal in the passageway and is biased to a normal valve closed position. A quick connect/disconnect fitting carries detent balls operative to engage a circumferential edge on the valve body and to snap onto a detent ball receiving surface of diameter less than the circumferential edge to thereby draw the valve body into the fitting. An annular shoulder in the fitting engages the valve plug separating the valve seat carried by the valve body from the valve plug permitting inflation of the air bag through the fitting and central passageway.

A shipping container for shipping particularly liquids in bulk loads including an outer corrugated box, an inner cylindrical paper tube extending to the inner walls of the box, triangular-shaped corner posts disposed between the inner tube and the outer corrugated box at the corners thereof. The container is characterized by its significantly increased resistance to outward bulging of the side walls by the weight of the liquid contained therein.

Shipping container

A relatively inexpensive void filler includes alternately stacked and laminated sheets of V-shaped and W-shaped panels of corrugated board glued together along the center and sides.

Economy void filler

A rigid, lightweight, splinter-free packaging frame for shipping pallet loads of goods having four marginal side members having a width and length corresponding generally to the width and length of the pallet load upon which it is to be used, the side members comprising a core of corrugated board folded upon itself and having a length of solid fiber laminated linerboard laminated to the opposed outer planar faces of the corrugated board. The linerboard extends beyond one end of each of the side members and receives the opposite end of an adjoining side member and is adhered thereto to form a rigid right angle frame.

Packaging frame

A relatively light-weight, rigid, non-kinking packaging for containing and shipping non-self-supporting articles of extended length including a corrugated box and a honeycomb core adhered to one or more sides of the box interiorly thereof along substantially the length of the box defining a space for receiving the product to be packaged.

Extended length packaging

An interior core protector for positioning about the inner circumference of a coil of material having a core to protect the material from damage including a rigid preformed angle bendable into an annulus having a diameter approximating the diameter of the core and an annular retaining disk having right angle legs in which the preformed angle is retained. The disk with annular preformed angle therein are receivable in the core of the coil of material providing protection to the coil about its entire circumference.

Interior core protector

A shipping container for shipping bulk loads of pelletized, granular, powdered or other particulate material including an outer corrugated box and an inner cylindrical paper cylinder extending to the inner walls of the box. The container is characterized by its significantly increased resistance to outward bulging of the side walls by the weight of the material contained therein.

A corner post including elongated inner and outer rigid right angle laminated paperboard members and a core of corrugated paper adhered to the members with the flutes being perpendicular to long edges of the members.

Combination laminated corrugated paper corner post

A disposable valve mounted to the wall and extending within the interior of containers such as disposable air bags or bulk containers includes a valve body having a hollow interior which receives a valve plug formed with a closure plate at one end and at least one fluid flow passageway. The valve plug is moved relative to the valve body by a fluid injector tip to an open position in which a portion of one or more fluid flow passageways in the valve plug extends exteriorly of the valve body and within the interior of the container to permit the passage of fluid therethrough, and then either in or out of the container. A resilient strap or band connected between the valve body and the flange of the valve plug, together with the pressure of the fluid inside of the container, forces the valve plug to a closed position upon removal of the fluid injector tip in which the fluid flow passageways in the valve plug are positioned interiorly of the valve body and an O-ring carried on the closure plate of the valve plug forms a seal between the valve plug and an end of the valve body.

Disposable valve

An integral, elongated corner post for cushioning and protecting the edges of a packaged article. The corner post includes a core of single-face corrugated wrapped with one or more layers of a second sheet single-face corrugated with the flutes thereof being at a 90.degree. angle to the flutes of the core. The single-face wrapping encloses the core including its lengthwise edges with the flutes thereof being adhered to the face and the flutes of the single-face core. The outer surface of the corner post is smooth with rounded lengthwise edges providing cushioning of the edges of the packaged article.
