A hermetically sealed package is provided for the administration of a solution or other liquid to a patient. The package includes a blow molded container, cap, and releasable cover. The cap accommodates piercing of the cap and container with a draining spike. The cap has one or more self-closing seals or liners and can be disposed on the container so as to permit penetration of the cap and container by a piercing spike without contacting the parting line of the molded container. The cap includes a special structure for guiding the spike at the initiation of the piercing process, and the cap has an improved structure for sealingly engaging the spike upon insertion. As the container is drained, one of the container walls collapses toward the other to facilitate the draining process and provide a convenient shape for subsequent handling and storage.

A hermetically sealed package is provided that is suitable for dispensing a material into a body cavity. The package includes a container having a dispensing nozzle surrounded by a seamless sleeve that prevents contact between the container's dispensing orifice and body tissue without impeding material flow from the container. Preferably the nozzle is provided with a twist-off closure constituted by a cap joined to the dispensing nozzle by a frangible web that surrounds the dispensing orifice.

A hermetically sealed unitary liquid container of a thermoplastic material suitable for use in inhalation therapy is disclosed. The humidifier container includes a body portion defined by an upstanding walled chamber having a bottom, a gas inlet duct unitary with the container body portion and defining a sealed gas inlet, and a sealed humidified gas outlet duct, both unitary with the container body portion. The container body portion constitutes a liquid reservoir and contains a predetermined amount of an aqueous aseptic or sterile aqueous liquid for humidifying a breathable gas. The gas inlet duct extends alongside the walled chamber, and has upper and lower end portions which are respectively situated above the container body portion and below usable liquid level in the container. The gas outlet duct communicates with the walled chamber above the usable liquid level. The gas inlet duct communicates with a gas diffuser defined by the container wall above the container bottom. The gas diffuser causes gas bubbles entering the liquid to rise through the liquid away from the container wall. The sealed gas inlet and the sealed gas outlet are provided with removable closures that can be broken off or twisted off. Relatively movable mold parts, as used for blow molding of the container, which is filled with liquid as it is molded, have grooves complementary to channels formed in the container.

A nebulizer device with a cooperating disengageable on-line heater device is provided. The nebulizer and the heater together permit one to produce uniformly moisturized gas suitable for inhalation therapy. A relatively large amount of liquid can be entrained in the gas stream that exits the nebulizer device.

A hermetically sealed unitary liquid container of a thermoplastic material suitable for use in inhalation therapy is disclosed as having a signal coupling. A cupshaped female connector is adapted to be threaded onto a gas inlet coupling of the container. A stem portion of the female connector defines a signal gas passageway and a flat land. A flexible elastic sleeve occludes the signal gas passageway and lies continuous with the land. When a pressure buildup is experienced within the container, gas pressure will force gas out through the signed gas passageway, and past the sleeve, while generating an audible signal, e.g., a whistling sound.

A unitary, hermetically-sealed dispensing container, having plural removable closures and suitable for containing and dispensing sterile solutions, is provided. The removable closures are unitary with the container. The dispensing container comprises a sealed, elongated shell of thermoplastic material provided with at least one access port at each end of the shell, a neck portion unitary with the shell and surrounding each access port, and removable cap means over the access ports and joined to the corresponding neck portions by means of frangible annular webs. The frangible annular webs are unitary with the cap means and with the neck portions. At least one of the neck portions is provided with a bore of predetermined controlled dimensions and is adapted to receive a draining spike or a similar means for withdrawing the contents of the container.

The one-piece easel-support member comprises attachment means for attachment to the back of a picture frame, a stand hingedly connected to the attachment means, a flap, and a link hingedly interconnected to the attachment means and to the flap. The easel-support member also comprises latching structure which includes one latching element on the flap and two latching elements on the stand. The latching element on the flap is engageable with one of the elements on the stand to place the easel-support member in its storage position. The flap latching element is also engageable with the other latching element on the stand to place the easel-support member in its use position.

The hermetically sealed plastic container of the present invention has a body portion, a neck portion and a dispensing head all integrally formed. The containers furthermore preferably and advantageously are formed, filled and sealed in one continuous operation, automatically. The dispensing head is integrally molded with and atop the neck portion, and has an inside diameter which substantially corresponds with the outside diameter of the side wall of the neck portion so as to slidably and frictionally receive the neck portion within the dispensing head. A severable annular groove is provided between the neck portion and the dispensing head, with this annular groove being proportioned such that it can be severed by exerting a downward force on the dispensing head. Simultaneously, as the dispensing head is forcibly urged downwardly to sever the annular groove, the dispensing head is forcibly urged downwardly about the neck portion. The dispensing head has a dispensing spout formed in it, and the neck portion has at least one indentation in its side wall for providing a communicating channel between the side wall of the neck portion and the dispensing head which is in communication with the dispensing spout when the dispensing head is disposed about the neck portion. The product is dispensed from the container through the neck portion and the dispensing spout via the communicating channel between the side wall of the neck portion and the dispensing head.
