A cutting saw blade for use with an oscillatory power tool used in surgical bone cutting procedures including a blade having a distal end provided with teeth whose tips are located on a tangent line perpendicular to the long axis of the blade. The teeth are configured substantially as right triangles with their hypotenuses facing either towards the center of the blade or away from the center of the blade. A central tooth can be optionally provided. The surgical saw blade may have a distal end having at least one pair of teeth configured to be adjacent to each other and each of the pair of teeth is configured as a right triangle each having a hypotenuse which is oriented at least one of towards and away from the centrally positioned long axis.

A unisex, portable urinal for bedridden individuals. The urinal has a generally triangular shape for stability and to reduce urine levels, both of which prevent spillage. A handle configuration helps users properly position the urinal, for example in a manner that forms a good seal against the relevant portion of the female anatomy. A spinal fusion implant device is provided for insertion into a generally cylindrical bore formed between adjacent vertebrae. The device includes: a shaft having a longitudinal central axis; and a plurality of projections extending radially from the shaft and terminating in a surface, each of the projections being oriented to form a thread like segment for engaging the internal surface of the cylindrical bore to advance the device axially into the bore upon rotation of the device about the longitudinal axis. In an embodiment, each of the projections includes an elongated member terminating in a surface including at least one rib adapted to form a thread like segment for engaging the internal surface of the bore. The elongated member further includes a bulbous head forming the surface at a distal end of the elongated member.

Intervertebral spacer implant

A cutting saw blade for use with an oscillatory power tool used in surgical bone cutting procedures including a blade having a distal end provided with teeth whose tips are oriented in a substantially linear row so that the terminus of all teeth lie in a solitary plane. Other tooth profiles assist in the cutting phenomena. The cutting blade has several spaced-apart pairs of notches disposed in the blade edges. Each pair of notches is adapted to cooperate with a pair of pins disposed on the oscillatory power tool to firmly retain the cutting blade to the saw. By providing the cutting blade with several sets of notches, the cutting blade is adjustable, in that it can be retained within the oscillatory power tool at different lengths. It has been found that such an adjustable cutting blade, having teeth oriented in a solitary plane, does not lose efficiency as the length of the blade is changed.

Adjustable surgical blade

An apparatus and method of aspirating vapors during laser surgery couples a vaporizing device with a source of vacuum. The apparatus includes an aspiration connector insertable into the vaporizing device and coupled to an optical waveguide disposed along a bore of the device. An aspiration pathway extends along with the optical waveguide in the bore of the vaporizing device forming a compact single passageway vaporizing device with aspiration capability. Vacuum control points are provided along the aspiration pathway to adjust the vacuum at an end where the vapors are formed.

Laser surgery aspiration apparatus and technique

A method and apparatus for directing light at an angle provides an optical fiber with a bevelled end which internally reflects light or refracts light from the bevelled end at an angle to the fiber's axis depending on the bevelled angle. The apparatus also includes a cylindrical probe for surgical applications having a central bore and a cut-out in a side of the probe near one end. The cylindrical probe may have a sharp tip at the one end for penetrating tissue. The optical fiber having a bevelled end is insertable into the cylindrical probe. The bevelled end of the optical fiber is aligned with the cut-out in the cylindrical probe. Light transmitted through the optical fiber is directed from the bevelled end and through the cut-out to provide light at an angle to the axis of the fiber. A bevelled end plug is positioned adjacent to the bevelled end of the fiber. A housing holds the optical fiber and cylindrical probe and limits axial travel. An aspiration connector is coupled to the optical fiber. Connection of the aspiration connector with the housing automatically aligns the bevelled end of the optical fiber with the cut-out in the cylindrical probe.
