An accommodating intraocular lens including an optic portion comprising an anterior surface and a posterior surface, a peripheral portion disposed radially relative to the optic portion and in communication with the optic portion and, the peripheral portion having a proximal portion secured to the optic portion and a free distal portion disposed away from the proximal portion, and a radially innermost surface of the peripheral portion, from the proximal portion to the free distal portion, follows a curved radially-outermost peripheral surface of the optic portion.

A phospholipid microbubble comprising a shell which comprises a plurality of polyunsaturated fatty acid ('PUFA')-containing phospholipids, and a core of inert gas surrounded by the shell comprising the plurality of PUFA-containing phospholipids. The present invention also provides methods of delivering a prophylactically or therapeutically effective amount of PUFA to an area of disease or injury in a subject. An accommodating intraocular lens is provided in which a deflectable lens element is anchored to a substrate along its optical axis to define a fluid filled space. Fluid-filled haptics disposed in fluid communication with the space vary the fluid volume in the space responsive to forces applied by the ciliary muscles, thereby causing the periphery of the lens element to deflect relative to the substrate and changing the optical power of the intraocular lens.

Accommodating intraocular lens having peripherally actuated deflectable surface and method

A sign holding device for a folding chair that allows the user to display customized messages on a back rest of the chair. The sign holder is attached to the back rest in various manners so as to permit messages to be displayed when the chair is unfolded. The sign holders are configured such that when the chair is folded, the chair can be carried and stacked without paying to remove the sign holders from the back rest. One embodiment of the folding chair also includes an integral carrying handle that permits the folded chair to be carried by one hand. The integral carrying handle further comprises an opening that permits the carrying hand to grasp the handle better, and also permit the chair to be unfolded without removing the hand from the handle, such that the unfolding action does not pinch the carrying hand.

An accommodating intraocular lens is provided having optical parameters that are altered in-situ, wherein an optic portion of the lens includes an actuator that deflects a lens element to alter the optical power of the lens, responsive to forces applied to a haptic portion to the lens by contraction of the ciliary muscles. Forces applied to the haptic portion may result in fluid displacements from or to the haptic portion from the actuator. Displacement of fluid to the actuator may either increase or reduce the degree of deflection imposed on the lens element by the actuator.

Accommodating intraocular lens system and method
