A cap having two chambers provides a means for and method of decomposing or neutralizing a hazardous chemical residue in a container after it has been emptied at the point of consumption. One of the chambers is a screw cap which normally closes and seals the container prior to the consumption of the hazardous chemical. The other chamber contains a measured amount of a second chemical which decomposes or neutralizes the residue of the hazardous chemical. The other chamber may be sealed off by a rupturable membrane, a screw cap, a friction held stopper, or a tear-off top, any of which may be ruptured or removed at the time when the residue is to be decomposed or neutralized. In the preferred embodiment, a screw cap is removed from the second chamber and the cap is inverted and screwed onto the container rupturing the membrane in the process, thereby releasing the second chemical into the container.

Container closure

An apparatus for separating fine particulates from a particle flow having a generally vertically disposed column with a particle flow channel. A particle flow inlet and outlet are located at opposite ends of the column in which an airstream is produced. Alternatively arranged downwardly slopping baffles are exposed on opposite sides of the channel for receiving and distributing the particle flow to the airstream. Each successive baffle is longitudinally spaced from the previous baffle. A mechanism is provided adjacent the bottom of each baffle for fanning out the particle flow and for removing the fine particulates from the fanned out particle flow into the airstream.

Apparatus for separating and removing fine particulates from a particle

A package or bed of litter for small animals, having at least two horizontally disposed layers of particulate, liquid absorbent material, the upper layer of which is of relatively coarse particles and contains an odor suppressant therein. The lower layer may have odor suppressant in an amount substantially less than in the upper layer, though normally the lower layer would not contain any substantial amount of odor suppressant material. The litter is normally packaged in an elongated container, with the relatively coarse particulate material on top and the relatively fine particulate material on the bottom. When the litter is to be used, the bottom of the container is opened to permit the discharge of the litter from the container into a box, with the relatively fine material on the bottom and the relatively coarse material containing the odor suppressant on top.

Litter material for small animals

Apparatus and method for removing dust from particulate material, utilizing a tower or column having a passage with a series of baffles on opposite sides over which the particulate material cascades while air is drawn across the flow path of the material to remove the dust dispersed in the material and adhering to the surface of the particles of material. Air is drawn across the passage from one side to the other by vacuum or suction from a vacuum pump or the like. In performing the method using the apparatus, the particulate material is introduced at the top of the column and permitted to cascade down through the vertical passage therein from one baffle to the next, and air is drawn inwardly between the baffles on one side and outwardly between the baffles on the opposite side of the column, and, as the air flows through the material cascading between the baffles, it removes the dust from the material. The apparatus can be used in conjunction with a storage bin, or with a conveyor which removes the material as it is discharged by the apparatus.

Apparatus and method for removing dust from particulate material

A package of litter for small animals, having two horizontally disposed layers of particulate, liquid absorbent material, the lower layer of which is of relatively light particulate material of organic composition, containing an odor suppressant therein, and the upper layer of which is of relatively heavy particulate material of inorganic composition. The upper layer may have odor suppressant in an amount substantially less than in the lower layer, though normally the upper layer does not contain any substantial amount of odor suppressant material. The litter is normally packaged in a plurality of elongated bag-like containers, joined together at the sides by a frangible web and at the top by a removable header. When the litter is to be used, the top of the container is opened to permit the discharge of the litter from the container into a box when the container is inverted, to form a litter bed of relatively heavy material on the bottom and the relatively coarse or light material containing the odor suppressant on top.

Package of litter material for cats and other small animals

A musical hat, cap or similar head covering is disclosed, having a visor portion with a compartment formed therein near the frontal portion of the visor. A musical device is disposed in the compartment and includes a switch for activating the musical device. The switch may be so located that grasping the hat by the visor in the vicinity of the switch, for tipping or waving the hat, activates the musical device which plays a short tune and then stops until reactivated.

Musical hat, cap or similar head covering

A bulk storage building structure for storing grain, dried clay and other granular products in which the normally encountered lateral pressure exerted on the walls of the structure is minimized by the spaced, slatted configuration of the walls which accommodates the angle of repose of the stored material. This configuration effectively increases the total available surface area of the structure such that the structure may be made as large as is necessary of practicable without the expensive wall reinforcements required for conventional storage structures.

Bulk storage building structure

A cat box filler system in which two layers of litter are provided in the container in which the material is shipped and sold. The container is provided with a place to be opened when the filler material is to be discharged in a cat box. The layer in the bottom or farthest from the opening in the container contains a substantial amount of odor suppressant and the other layer contains little or no odor suppressant. When the container is to be used the end of the container farthest from the layer with the odor suppressant is opened and the container is held with a hole at the bottom so that the first layer with little or no odor suppressant flows into the cat box, and the layer with the odor suppressant flows over the first layer, forming the top layer of the material in the cat box. The invention also includes the method involving the steps of emptying the container into the cat box to form two layers therein.

Cat box filler system and method

An apparatus for testing small animal litter in which a plurality of compartments are employed for living quarters for the small animals, such as cats, and for a container with litter to be tested, and these animal compartments are connected by conduits to a compartment for a tester to use to sniff the odor from any one of the animal compartments. Valves are preferably provided in the conduits, and controls for the valves extend externally of the apparatus so the valves can be operated separately by an operator without interfering with individual tests. Fans in or near the top of the compartments are used to circulate air through the animal compartments while the animals are living normally therein, and a fan is provided in the tester's compartment for drawing the air from any selected one of the animal compartments into and through the tester's compartment. Drains are preferably provided in the bottom of the compartments to permit water and other liquids to drain therefrom and to facilitate cleaning of the compartments. The compartments have doors and are preferably sufficiently large that a normal adult can stand erect therein.

Odor testing apparatus

An animal measuring apparatus for measuring various parts of the anatomy of an animal, in which a wall is provided with lines representing graduations of a scale useful in measuring the animal. The lines of the scale extend the width of the wall, permitting measurement of various parts of the animal without moving the animal or scale. The wall can be of two panels suspended on a track for lateral movement in a vertical position, and the animal can be positioned between the panels.

Animal measuring apparatus

A method for plotting and disseminating information on the paths of violent storms, which can be used to accurately and quickly describe the affected region in a manner easily comprehended by the residents of the region. A map is provided with a grid system consisting of intersecting, generally vertical and horizontal columns and rows, dividing the area into subregions. Each row and each column has an identifying designation, and each subregion of the map has a distinct designation including the designations for the row and the column in which it is located. A weather bulletin for an area includes reference to the designations for the subregion involved.

Method for plotting and disseminating information on the paths of

A flavoring dispenser in which upper and lower layers are sealed to each other along their edges to form a pouch-like structure. A flavoring substance is contained in the structure and a plurality of apertures are disposed in the lower layer. The dispenser is placed on meat or other food being cooked, and the flavoring substance seeps from the dispenser onto the food. The flavoring is a liquid or other substance which liquifies during the cooking of the food. The steam and heat from the food and/or from the flavoring substance cause the pouch to swell, thereby forcing the flavoring substance through the apertures. A plurality of dispensers may be packaged in a sheet-like arrangement with perforations between the individual dispensers permitting each to be detached from the sheet.

Flavoring dispenser

A container and dispenser for dry particulated chemicals, such as agricultural pesticides, in which the container has two walls forming a corner at one end of the container, and an opening in the corner for discharging the chemical in the container therefrom. A removable closure seals the opening while the container is being shipped and stored and a retractable closure is disposed within the container for closing the opening when the closure has been removed in preparation for discharging the chemical into the dispensers. The dispenser is so constructed and designed that it holds the container in the position where the opening is at the bottom for discharging the contents from the container, and a projection is provided on the dispenser for retracting the closure disposed in the container when the container is placed in the dispenser. A spring may be provided for urging the closure in the container to its closed position so that the container is automatically closed when it is removed from the dispenser.
