An arrester system has at least two parallel-connected arresters, each with a sensor for determining leakage currents. A monitoring system is configured to detect faults at the arresters by comparing sensor data. The method for detecting faults at parallel-connected arresters includes comparing in particular the present measured values of the arresters and/or from sensors of the arresters. A fault is detected when there are deviations between measured values of different arresters. The arrester system is identified as fault-free when measured values of the arresters, in particular of all arresters, are substantially the same.

An item of electrical equipment includes a core clad with a glass fiber material. The glass fiber material is preimpregnated with a resin. A layer of a substance is applied to the glass fiber material. The substance is formed at least partly of high-temperature vulcanizing silicone rubber. A corresponding production method is also provided.

Overvoltage arresters are used to protect against overvoltages in electrical energy transmission systems. An overvoltage arrester has a discharge column which extends along a longitudinal axis and is clamped in between end fittings by a plurality of tensile elements which radially surround the discharge column and are secured in the end fittings. At least one of the end fittings has a first thread for attaching a connecting bolt. Furthermore, the end fitting has a fitting body with a second thread for receiving a pressure screw for generating an axial force on the discharge column. Accordingly the first and second threads overlap along an axial section.

A surge arrester has a discharge column formed of a stack of a plurality of varistor disks. The stack is stabilized with a fiberglass material. The fiberglass material is preimpregnated with a resin and the fiberglass material has glass fibers with a maximum diameter of 8 &#x3bc;m. A surge arrester may be formed by wrapping a tape of such fiberglass material around a stack of varistor disks.

A hanging arrangement for items of electrical operating equipment includes an upper fastener for suspending the hanging arrangement, a plurality of items of operating equipment being arranged so as to hang in a parallel manner from the upper fastener, and a lower fastener which is arranged so as to hang from the items of operating equipment. The items of operating equipment are connected to the fasteners in each case by flexible contact device.

A surge arrester has a resistance column which is pressed together by one or more clamping devices. The clamping devices are each fixed at both ends of the resistance column to an end fitting by way of a fixing device. An electrically insulating housing encloses the fixing device. Each end fitting has a first contour, on which the fixing devices are arranged and which is enclosed by the housing. The end fitting also has a second contour with a smaller diameter than the first contour.
