In a method of operating a gas-turbine group and of cooling the units subjected to high thermal loading, a portion of compressor air (18) is diverted upstream of a first combustion chamber (2) and fed through a generator (14) working toward conversion and as a heat exchanger. A natural-gas/water or natural-gas/steam mixture (15) flows in counterflow through the same generator (14). With the cooling of the compressor air (18) inside the generator (14), the energy required for an endothermic reaction of the mixture (15) is released.

Method of operating a gas-turbine group

The cooling air cooler (10) for power plants of combined operation is designed as a helix steam generator which works on the countercurrent principle and is located in a vertically arranged cylindrical pressure vessel (23) and the spirally coiled tubes (30) of which fill the space between an inner (26) and an outer (41) jacket tube, water (12) being capable of being supplied to the tubes (30) via a conduit (32) and steam (14) being capable of being discharged from the tubes (30) via a conduit (33), the evaporating water (12) flowing through the helix from the bottom upward and the cooling air (11), capable of being supplied by the compressor (1) via an inflow conduit (24), flowing through the helix from the top downward, and the air (11) experiencing deflection before reaching an outflow conduit (25) at the lowest point in the pressure vessel (23) after flowing out of the helix. When the power plant is operating normally, the steam (14) generated in the cooling air cooler (10) is guided to the steam turbine (17) via the waste-heat boiler (15). For operating situations where the gas turbine works alone, water injection into the air (11) to be cooled or a supply of the steam (14) generated in the cooler (10) into the cooled air (13) is provided.

Cooling air cooler for power plants

In a method of and an apparatus for operating a power station plant, essentially comprising a gas-turbine group (40, 41, 46), a waste-heat steam generator (8) and a downstream steam consumer, for example a steam turbine (1) having a generator (2), the exhaust gas of the gas-turbine group (40, 41, 46) releases heat to the water fed via a feed-water line (15) and directed in counterflow through the waste-heat steam generator (8). The steam generated is fed to the steam consumer (1) via at least one steam line (6). The water fed by the feed-water line (15) is directed through the waste-heat steam generator (8) in a once-through arrangement. The exhaust gases of the gas-turbine group (40, 41, 46) are directed through the waste-heat steam generator (8) at every operating instant. The steam generated in the waste-heat steam generator (8) is directed into the gas-turbine group (40, 41, 46) via an injection steam line (23) when the steam consumer (1) is shut off.

Method of operating a gas turbine power plant with steam injection

In a method of operating a power station plant, essentially comprising a gas-turbine group (40, 41, 46), a waste-heat steam generator (8) and a downstream steam consumer (30), the exhaust gas from the gas-turbine group (40, 41, 46) releases heat to the water conducted in counterflow through the waste-heat steam generator (8), and the steam produced is fed to the steam consumer (30) via at least one steam line (6). The water is at any temperature and is fed directly into the waste-heat steam generator (8) via at least one water line (11) having an allocated regulating valve (20) for limiting the flow. During the use of fuels having sulfur contents, the regulating valve (20) is controlled via the temperature of the exhaust gas at the discharge from the waste-heat steam generator (8), at a temperature measuring device (24).

Method of operating a gas and steam power plant

A gas turbine apparatus that can be operated selectively in a simple cycle or in a combined steam turbine cycle increases the efficiency of the installation and provides easy switch-over from the simple cycle to the combined cycle, and at the same time provides for cooling the cooling air for the gas turbine. The gas turbine and waste-heat boiler are connected by a transition piece. A heat exchanger for cooling the cooling air is disposed in a duct connected to the transition piece for introducing a gaseous medium for mixing with the gas turbine exhaust. The gaseous medium cools the cooling air and is accordingly heated. The heated gaseous medium is mixed with the exhaust gas of the turbine, and the mixture directed to the waste heat boiler to generate steam for the steam turbine for operating in the combined cycle. A simply operated duct selectively directs the flow of the mixture. A chimney with a closing flap is positioned on the transition piece between the cooling duct and the waste-heat boiler to selectively direct the mixed gases to the waste-heat boiler or the environment.

Apparatus for operating a gas turbine in a simple cycle and in a cycle

A method for operating a gas turbine selectively in a simple cycle or in a combined steam turbine cycle increases the efficiency of the installation and provides easy switch-over from the simple cycle to the combined cycle, and at the same time providing for cooling the cooling air for the gas turbine. The method in accordance with the invention includes the steps of using the exhaust gas from the gas turbine to generate steam in a waste heat boiler for the steam cycle. A heat exchanger for cooling the cooling air is disposed in a duct for introducing a gaseous medium for mixing with the gas turbine exhaust. The gaseous medium cools the cooling air and is accordingly heated. The heated gaseous medium is mixed with the exhaust gas of the turbine, and the mixture directed to the waste heat boiler to generate steam for the steam turbine for operating in the combined cycle. In the simple cycle, the mixture is released to the atmosphere. A simply operated duct selectively directs the flow of the mixture.
