A hydraulically-driven pump of the displacement type intended particularly for pumping various suspensions of liquids and solid particles (slurry) and/or for high pumping pressures comprises a pump housing with a pump chamber (4) with an inlet pipe and an outlet pipe, and associated inlet, and outlet valve, respectively, and a pump piston, disc (16) or corresponding provided in the pump chamber. The pump housing, which is vertically arranged, also comprises an oil section (6) arranged above the pump chamber and having connection (7) to a high pressure hydraulic unit for producing a working pressure on a working piston or piston disc (17) connected with the pump piston through at least one mechanical connecting member (23), and a clean water section (5) arranged between the oil section (6) and the pump chamber (4), said clean water section extending between the working piston and pump piston so that the same water pressure (Pv), which is of approximately the same magnitude as the pressures in the oil section and in the pump chamber, is exerted on the front side of the working piston as on the rear side of the pump piston.

Displacement pump suitable for pumping suspensions

A method and apparatus for pumping fluids, especially viscous and/or abrasive fluids, are disclosed. The method comprises using one working fluid to pump an intermediate working fluid, which may be different from the first working fluid, through a conduit system in a smooth and continuous pulsating manner. The intermediate fluid pumps the process fluid through the actual pumping zone. Heat exchange between the intermediate and process fluids may be effected, e.g. by counterflow. The preferred apparatus comprises a hydraulically operated displacement pump. A tubular diaphragm pump is coupled in-line in a pipe line. The tubular diaphragm pump includes a housing coupled to the pipe line, and a tubular diaphragm coupled to the housing in such a manner that the process fluid flows from the pipe line, through the interior of the tubular diaphragm and back into the pipe line. A check valve insures that the process fluid passes through the tubular diaphragm in a single direction. The housing is adapted to direct the intermediate working fluid introduced into the housing from a conduit system into contact with the exterior of the tubular diaphragm and back into the conduit. A power section is spaced from the housing and pumps the intermediate fluid through the conduit system and housing in a pulsating, but continuous and smooth, manner.

Method and apparatus for pumping viscous and/or abrasive fluids

A pressure regulator in which inlet pressure from a pressure medium is regulated by movable control means which occupies a position representative of a balanced condition between a predetermined force applied to the control means and representative of the desired pressure, and a counter force applied through the control means to the primary force application means whereupon the control means allows a part or all of the pressure medium to reach the pressure regulator outlet and whereby the remaining portion or none of the inlet pressure is bypassed through a bypass outlet. The desired pressure level at the outlet of the regulator may be altered by varying the force applied to the control means, typically through the use of weights of varying magnitude.
