The present invention relates to a photovoltaic device () comprising a solar cell unit () including a working electrode comprising a light-absorbing layer (), a counter electrode including a porous conductive layer (), and a conducting medium for transferring charges between the counter electrode and the working electrode, and a conductor () electrically connected to the porous conductive layer (). The solar cell unit () comprises at least one adhering layer () arranged between the conductor () and the porous conductive layer () for attaching the conductor to the porous conductive layer. The adhering layer () comprises an adhesive and conducting particles distributed in the adhesive so that a conducting network is formed in the adhesive.

Photovoltaic device

The present invention relates to a working electrode () for a photovoltaic device, comprising a light absorbing layer () and a conductive layer () arranged in electrical contact with the light absorbing layer (), and the light absorbing layer () comprises a light absorbing photovoltaic material consisting of a plurality of dye molecules. The light absorbing layer () is formed by a layer of a plurality of clusters (), whereby each cluster () is formed by dye molecules and each dye molecule in the cluster () is bonded to its adjacent dye molecules.

Working electrode for a photovoltaic device, and a photovoltaic device including the working electrode

The present invention relates to a photovoltaic device (). The device comprises a solar cell unit () comprising a porous light-absorbing layer () at a top side (), of a porous first conducting layer (), a porous substrate () of an insulating material. The solar cell unit comprises a conducting medium. The photovoltaic device comprises a first conductor () in electrical contact with the first conducting layer (), a second conductor () in electrical contact with the second conducting layer (), and an encapsulation () encapsulating the solar cell unit. The encapsulation comprises a top sheet () and a bottom sheet (). The first and second conductors () are arranged between the encapsulation () and the solar cell unit () at the bottom side () of the solar cell unit (). The second conductor () is arranged between the second conducting layer () and the bottom sheet () of the encapsulation (), and the first conductor () is arranged between the porous substrate () and the bottom sheet (). The first conductor () is electrically insulated from the second conducting layer (). A part () of the porous substrate () comprises conducting material () disposed between the first conductor () and the first conducting layer () to provide electrical contact between the first conductor and the first conducting layer.

A solar cell includes a porous light absorbing layer, a first porous conducting layer, a second conducting layer, a porous substrate between the conducting layers, the porous substrate includes a catalytic conducting portion in electrical contact with the second conducting layer and an insulating portion between the first porous conducting layer and the conducting portion, and a conducting medium for transporting charges between the conducting portion and the light absorbing layer. The conducting medium is located in the light absorbing layer, the first porous conducting layer, and partly the porous substrate so that the insulating portion and a first part of the conducting portion has the conducting medium and a second part of the conducting portion is free of conducting medium.
