The present invention concerns a closure for mounting on a reagent vessel, the closure including a main body, a top wall attached by its edges to the top edges of the main body, at least one incision dividing the top wall into at least two parts, a flange attached to and extending outwards from the top edge of the top wall, and a hinge area connecting the top edge of the main body to the flange and the top wall.

A method for controlling the dispensation of a liquid volume sample when metering amounts of liquid by sucking into a tube, probe or tip a volume of a liquid to be displaced and ejecting the sample to a different vessel. According to the method the metering act is performed normally and the liquid to be metered is displaced thereafter in a desired vessel. During the metering act and after a desired amount of liquid is sucked into the metering line, a supplementary suction step is performed wherefrom the success of the metering act can be deduced. The pressure function of the supplementary suction step is measured and this function is compared with a calibration function.

Method for checking the condition of a sample when metering liquid

The invention concerns a method for detecting the amounts of substances that may disturb chemical analysis performed by an analyzer for clinical chemistry. The presence and concentration of hemoglobin, bilirubin and lipemia are detected by measuring the absorbance or reflectance on at least two, preferably six, different wavelengths over the measured spectrum. The measurements are performed at two wavelengths for each substance, preferably on the absorbance peaks of the specific substance and on the root of the specific peaks. Since the three substances mentioned above each have at least one peak in the spectrum, the measurement is done on three peaks and three root positions respectively when three substances have to be measured.

The invention concerns a procedure for keeping and taking into use an analytic reagent or another substance used in analyses, and a reagent package to be used in the procedure. The package consists of a gas-tight sachet or of a combination consisting of several sachets, where the sachets comprises at least one flexible wall and a blank for forming a discharge aperture. The blank may consist of a hermetically sealed flexible tube extending into the interior of the sachet or a bar-like member with openings defined therein that extend into the sachets. The taking into use of the substance packed in the sachet is then accomplished by opening the flexible tube or the openings in the bar-like member and connecting the tube or the openings to the analyzer with an outward gas-tight connection. The substance is thereafter drawn from the sachet into said apparatus in one or several steps so that the sachet will collapse in connection with the discharge. Thanks to the gas-tight sealing of the sachet and of the connection between it and the analyzer, the substance packed in the sachet remains sterile and unchanged of its concentration not only before the substance is taken into use but also up to such time when the substance has been used up.
