A pump system is presented having a pump with a generally cylindrical pump housing that is arranged with a liquid inlet in one end and a liquid outlet in a second end. A tubular membrane is arranged inside the pump housing and a first passage is arranged in the vicinity of the liquid inlet for introducing pressurized fluid between the membrane and the housing. A second passage arranged in the vicinity of said liquid outlet for releasing said pressurized fluid where the membrane is arranged with an elasticity providing a local radial compression and an annular fluid compartment when a pulse of pressurized fluid is entered through the first passage. The annular fluid compartment travels along the housing bringing a volume of liquid with it. An expansion vessel can be operably attached to the liquid outlet for reducing pressure changes in the liquid caused by the action of the pulse of pressurized fluid.

A device may receive lifestyle information corresponding to an individual with a medical condition. The device may create a lifestyle timeline, associated with the individual, that includes a plurality of items of lifestyle information, included in the lifestyle information, arranged in a chronological order. The device may generate, based on the lifestyle timeline, a recommendation or a prediction associated with a metric related to the medical condition. The recommendation may be generated based on one or more of the plurality of items of lifestyle information. The prediction may be generated using a prediction model that uses one or more of the plurality of items of lifestyle information as input, and generates the prediction using the prediction model. The device may provide information associated with the recommendation or the prediction to identify a dosage associated with treating or managing the medical condition.

The present invention relates to nucleic acid samples for massively parallel sequencing. More particularly, the present invention relates to assay methods, compositions and kits for detecting contamination of nucleic acid identifiers such as sample barcodes.

A method for amplifying a target nucleic acid is disclosed, which includes: (a) fragmenting a nucleic acid sample to create a target fragment comprising a target nucleic acid and two probe-complementary portions; (b) contacting said fragmented nucleic acid sample with a probe comprising two target fragment-complementary portions complementary to the probe-complementary portions of the target fragment; (c) rendering the fragmented nucleic acid sample single-stranded; (d) allowing the probe-complementary portions to hybridise with the target-fragment complementary portions; (e) if the probe in step (b) is not immobilised, immobilising the probe-target fragment hybrid on a solid phase via immobilisation moiety; (f) separating non-immobilised nucleic acid fragments from the solid phase; (g) contacting the solid phase with a ligase to ligate ligatable 5' and 3&#x2032; ends of the target fragment whereby the target fragment is circularized; and (h) amplifying said circularized target fragment.

Method for amplification of target nucleic acid

This disclosure provides a method for adding an adaptor to a genomic sequence by invasive cleavage, as well as a kit for performing the method. In some embodiments, the method comprises: a) hybridizing genomic DNA to an adaptor comprising a double stranded region and a single stranded region comprising a 5' overhang to produce a substrate for a flap endonuclease; b) cleaving the substrate using the flap endonuclease; c) ligating the recessed end of the double stranded region to the fragment to produce an adaptor-ligated DNA; d) intramolecularly ligating the ends of the adaptor-ligated DNA to produce a circular DNA molecule; and e) enzymatically processing the circular DNA molecule using an oligonucleotide that hybridizes to the adaptor and an enzyme. A kit for performing the method is also provided.

Addition of an adaptor by invasive cleavage

The present invention provides a method for detecting or enriching for a target deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) present in a nucleic acid sample, said method comprising: (a) fragmenting a nucleic acid sample to generate nucleic acid fragments including a target fragment containing said target DNA and non-specifically ligating an adaptor sequence to an end of said fragments; (b) rendering said fragments at least partially single-stranded; (c) contacting the at least partially single-stranded fragments of step (b) with oligonucleotides A and B of a single target-specific nucleic acid probe; (d) ligating oligonucleotide B of said probe to the part of the single-stranded portion of said target fragment which is hybridised to oligonucleotide A of said probe to produce a probe-target fragment hybrid; and (e) detecting or enriching for said probe-target fragment hybrid.
