A broadband group antenna, comprising a plurality of antenna elements and an earth plane element, wherein the antenna elements are arranged in a common plane on top of the earth plane element and connected to a microwave transceiver unit via conductors provided in channels that extend through the earth plane element in a direction perpendicular to a main extension plane of the earth plane element, the antenna elements are arranged in a matrix pattern comprising first rows extending in a first direction and second rows extending in a second direction perpendicular to said first direction, wherein the antenna elements are in alignment with each other in said first rows and in said second rows.

Electrically controlled broadband group antenna

The present disclosure relates to a balun suitable for realizing a wideband transition in the radio frequency band from an unbalanced transmission line to a balanced transmission line. The balun comprises an input terminal; a two conductor output terminal; and a layered structure comprising a number of conducting layers and dielectric layers alternatingly arranged on top of each other. The layered structure comprises at least one ground plane layer and at least one signal transmission layer. The input terminal has a signal connection point and a screen connecting point. An unbalanced signal path is connected to the signal connection point and the screen connecting point of the input terminal. A balanced signal path is connected to the output terminal and being part of the layered structure. A balun transition region transforms the signal from an unbalanced signal to a balanced signal. The balun transition region comprises a non-conducting gap between the screen of the unbalanced signal and a dummy screen structure. The dummy screen structure is a mirror structure, mirrored in a plane of the gap, of a horizontal portion of the unbalanced signal path before the gap. A central conductor or signal conductor of the unbalanced signal path traverses the gap and enters a volume defined by the dummy screen structure. The screen of the unbalanced signal in the vicinity of the gap forms a first balanced conductor being part of the layered structure and the screen of the dummy screen structure, in vicinity of the gap, forms a second balanced conductor being part of the layered structure.

Balun

An antenna frame for reducing radar cross section of a vehicle provided with a flat microstrip patch antenna array comprising a number of microstrip patches arranged in an array pattern, the antenna frame: &#x2014;being arranged to surround the outer periphery of the flat antenna array &#x2014;the frame comprising a first conductive sheet; &#x2014;the first conductive sheet extending from the most peripheral patches and outward in a sloping manner; wherein dielectric and magnetic absorbent material are arranged to improve impedance transition from a point of the antenna to a point on the periphery of the frame, which is also contemplated as adjoining a vehicle fuselage.

Method for integrating an antenna with a vehicle fuselage

A method for an antenna system including a transmitting phase array antenna including a transmitting antenna subarray including a number of antenna elements transmitting on a first frequency and a receiving phase array antenna including a receiving antenna subarray including a number of antenna elements. The transmitting antenna subarray antenna is positioned at a distance relative the receiving antenna subarray antenna and the coupling between two antenna subarrays are decided and used for controlling the transmitting subarray antenna to transmit in such a way that there will be nulling of the energy in the receiving antenna subarray antenna with respect to the transmitting antenna subarray.

Array antenna system

A method for designing low signature array antennas using a calculation method. The method proposes a way of improving antenna and signature performance of array antennas. According to the method electromagnetic antenna and signature characteristics are specified, an iterative optimizing method is performed to design the antenna to fulfil the specified characteristics, the iterative method is interrupted when a design fulfils the specified characteristics, and the specified characteristics are readjusted in an iterative optimizing method to follow if the specified characteristics not are fulfilled.

Method for designing array antennas

An electrically controlled group antenna including an antenna element suitable for incorporation in such a group antenna and an antenna module including several such antenna elements. The antenna elements include a rotationally-symmetrical body tapering towards one end of the body. The rotationally-symmetrical body is provided with a metallic casing surface. Several antenna elements are arranged separately on a common earth plane. A broadband group antenna is achieved that, among other things, is simple in design and is easy to manufacture and repair.
