A vehicle has a current collector for feeding traction energy from a two-pole overhead contact line system, an electric or hybrid electric traction drive, and an electric energy storage device for temporarily storing fed traction energy. A first line branch can connect the traction drive to the current collector. A second line branch, which can connect the traction drive and the energy storage device to the current collector, includes a switched-in, galvanically isolating DC-to-DC converter. Due to a third line branch which can connect the traction drive and the energy storage device to the current collector, and which includes a switched-in, non-galvanically isolating DC-to-DC converter, enables higher charging rates for charging the energy storage device to be transmitted while maintaining the protection system.

The invention relates to a method performed by a control unit () for handling charging in an at least partly electric vehicle (). The control unit () transmits, to a charger (), a request to provide power to at least one auxiliary load () and to charge a battery () with an amount of voltage. The amount of voltage corresponds to a desired SOC level. The charging of the battery () automatically stops when the desired SOC level is reached. The charger () continues to provide power to the at least one auxiliary load () when the desired SOC level is reached.

Control unit and a method for handling charging in an at least partly electric vehicle

A method for controlling a hybrid vehicle electrical system includes driving the vehicle in a first driving mode where the battery pack is connected to the traction voltage DC-link and the battery pack is supplying the electrical auxiliary units with power, shutting down the power electronics unit in order to cease power delivery from the electric machine to the traction voltage DC-link or to the electric machine from the traction voltage DC-link, disconnecting the battery pack from the traction voltage DC-link by opening the relay, and activating the power electronics unit and controlling output voltage of the power electronics unit to a predetermined level.

Method for controlling a hybrid vehicle electrical system

In a method and an arrangement for powering up a DC distribution system in a hybrid vehicle power train, the power train includes an electric storage system, an internal combustion engine, an electric motor/generator, a clutch device to connect the electric motor/generator to the internal combustion engine, a power electronics unit with a voltage regulator connected to the electric motor/generator, and an electronic control unit for controlling the power train. The electric storage system and the electric motor/generator are connectable to one or more electrical loads for driving the vehicle. The powering up includes initializing internal combustion engine ignition, initializing a diagnostics test of power train components, cranking the internal combustion engine, requesting pre-charge of the electrical loads from the power electronics unit, connecting the electric storage system to the electrical loads when the pre-charge and the diagnostics test are completed, and resuming normal operation for the power electronics unit.
