A joint, termination or cross-connection arrangement for a cable includes a first cable and a protective casing. The arrangement further includes a transition sleeve. The transition sleeve, at a first longitudinal end surface thereof, is welded to the metallic sheath of the first cable around the whole circumference of the metallic sheath. The transition sleeve is furthermore welded to the protective casing around the whole circumference of the transition sleeve. A method of providing such an arrangement includes: welding the transition sleeve, at the first longitudinal end surface, to the metallic sheath of the first cable around the whole circumference of the metallic sheath; and welding the transition sleeve to a first tubular end portion of the protective casing around the whole circumference of the transition sleeve.

A rigid joint assembly including a first and second cable core end sections of a first and second electric cables, including cores having a conductor, and an insulation system having a semi-conducting layer, an insulation layer and a semi-conducting layer. The assembly includes a joint connection, and a water tight metal casing. The casing assembly has a first and second cable entry parts for receiving the first and second cable cores having joint assembly includes first and second deformation preventing members that surround cable core end sections and includes a rigid pipe.

Rigid joint assembly

A rigid joint assembly for jointing two cables; the assembly includes outer cable entry parts outside a water-tight casing assembly. A first and second cable insulation system deformation preventing devices are provided, each including a rigid pipe, which surrounds a respective first or second cable core end section, and a bedding material layer, which extends at least partially along a length of an inner surface of the respective rigid pipe. The assembly further includes first and second grooved pipes of elastic material having a plurality of grooves on the side facing the cable, each grooved pipe surrounding the respective first or second cable core end section at a respective inner cable entry part inside the water-tight casing assembly
