A method in a network node and a network is provided to determine line of sight, LOS, base stations for a user equipment (UE) is provided. A request is provided to at least one of the UE and a plurality of base stations to measure and report LOS detection measurements, wherein the plurality of base stations includes base stations of a serving cell of the UE. The LOS detection measurements are received from the at least one of the UE and the plurality of base stations. LOS base stations for the UE are determined based on the LOS detection measurements. An indication of the LOS base stations is transmitted to the UE.

Network architecture, methods, and devices for a wireless communications network

A method for acquiring an indication of a preferred beam of a wireless communication device is disclosed. The method is performed in a network node of a cellular communication network. The network node is adapted to support a plurality of beams of a signal beam-forming scheme and to communicate with the wireless communication device using at least one beam of the plurality of beams. A message indicative of the beam power setting is transmitted to the wireless communication device. Measurement signals are also transmitted. A report indicative of the preferred beam is received from the wireless communication device. The preferred beam is determined by the wireless communication device based on the measurement signals and the beam power setting. Corresponding methods for the wireless communication device, as well as corresponding arrangements, network node, wireless communication device, cellular communication network, and computer program products are also disclosed.

The present disclosure relates to a method performed by a network node for beamforming, to a network node and to a system including a network node. One aspect of the disclosure provides a method () comprising: obtaining (), at the network node (), information relating to a plurality of signals received or transmitted using a set of receiving beams or a set of transmitting beams of the network node (), each individual beam of the set having a unique beam direction; determining a set of candidate beams for use by the network node () for synchronisation signal, SS, transmission or random access channel, RACH, detection; based on the obtained information, selecting one or more of the determined candidate beams; and using the selected one or more of the determined candidate beams for SS transmission or RACH detection by the network node ().

Mechanisms for selecting beam direction for a radio communications device are provided. A method is performed by the radio communications device. The method includes obtaining radio channel estimates of a radio channel on which radio waves have been transmitted between the radio communications device and another radio communications device at an angle of arrival and departure. The method includes determining a Doppler shift from the radio channel estimates. The method includes estimating at least one of the angle of arrival and departure of the radio waves based on the Doppler shift. The method includes selecting a beam direction for a signal to be transmitted between the radio communications device and this another radio communications device over the radio channel according to the estimated angle of arrival or departure.

Methods and apparatuses for determining a position of a wireless device in a wireless communication network are provided. The method includes obtaining a first sequence of Time Difference of Arrivals (TDOAs) at the wireless device of reference signals, which are transmitted by and used for synchronization of a first pair of network nodes; and determining, based on the first sequence of TDOAs, a first relative distance. The method also includes obtaining a second sequence of TDOAs at the wireless device of reference signals, which are transmitted by and used for synchronization of a second pair of network nodes; and determining, based on the first sequence of TDOAs, a second relative distance. Method, apparatus and system for determining a position of a wireless device

A method performed by a first radio node for selecting a transmission rank is provided. The radio node is capable of using at least a first antenna beam and a second antenna beam for communication with a second radio node in a wireless communication network. The radio node communicates with the second radio node by using the first antenna beam and a first transmission rank. The radio node obtains second radio parameters for the second antenna beam. The radio node then selects a second transmission rank based on the obtained second radio parameters. The second transmission rank is to be used for communication with the second radio node in the second beam. The selection of the second transmission rank is triggered before obtaining any Rank Indicator (RI) for the second antenna beam.

Systems and methods of sharing channel information between co-located radio nodes are provided. The method comprises communicating, using a current beam, with another radio transceiver device. The method comprises obtaining a signal strength indicator and a transmission rank of the current beam. The method comprises determining an adjustment indicator for adjusting beam width of the current beam for continued communications with said another radio transceiver device. The adjustment indicator is based on the signal strength indicator and the 0 transmission rank. The method comprises initiating adjustment of the beam width according to the adjustment indicator.
