The invention relates to a process for the preparation of an alkyl benzene by catalytic dehydrogenation of the corresponding alkenyl cyclohexene in the gas phase in the presence of a diluent. A characteristic feature is that at least a part of the alkyl cyclohexane in the reaction product is used as diluent. Hydrogen can be used as an additional diluent according to the invention.

Process for the preparation of an alkyl benzene

The invention relates to a process for the dimerization of a conjugated diene using an iron triad metal nitrosyl halide, in combination with a reducing agent, as catalyst. The process is characterized in that the dimerization is carried out in the presence of nitrogen monoxide (NO). The invention is of interest in particular for the dimerization of butadiene to 4-vinyl cyclohexene.

Process for the dimerization of a conjugated diene

The invention is concerned with a process for removing mercury from a non-polar organic medium like a liquid hydrocarbon mixture, most preferably a natural gas condensate, by contacting the medium to be treated with a solid adsorbent, preferably an ion-exchange resin, containing active thiol-groups. By this method it is possible to remove mercury from the treated medium in an amount of more than 97%.
