According to an aspect, there is provided a control device. The control device is configured to receive data from a passenger traffic system configured in a building, the data comprising information associated with operations for transferring passengers of the passenger traffic system; based on the received data, monitor a change in a quality of service level of the passenger traffic system in transferring the passengers and a change in a passenger traffic pattern in transferring the passengers in the passenger traffic system; and in response to detecting the change in the service level or in the passenger traffic pattern, run one or more simulations of the passenger traffic in the passenger traffic system in the at least one building using the received data in order to trigger at least one operation to change a configuration of the passenger traffic system.

A method and an apparatus for computing allocation decisions in an elevator system is provided. Historical passenger batch journey data relating to the elevator system is obtained, wherein each passenger batch journey includes an origin and a destination floor of the journey, the number of passengers of the journey and the time of the journey. Historical passenger traffic statistics are constructed based on the passenger batch journey data, and expected calls are modelled based on the passenger traffic statistics. The modelled expected call is taken into account in computing subsequent allocation decisions in the elevator system.

Radio signals are communicated on spatially separate radio paths across a doorway of an elevator. Signal strengths of the radio signals are measured and used to determine traffic served by the elevator. In this way traffic boarding and leaving the elevator may be measured when more than one unit of traffic, for example people, pass through the doorway simultaneously.

A method for controlling an elevator group including at least a first elevator and a second elevator, wherein a counterweight balance of the first elevator differs from a counterweight balance of the second elevator, the method including: controlling the elevator group; determining threshold loads for the first and second elevator separately for up and down direction, a threshold load being dependent of the counterweight balance of the corresponding elevator, wherein the threshold load being a load for which consumed energy per up-down run is approximately zero; and controlling, when allocating an elevator in response to a destination call, route determination for the first and second elevator involves minimizing a load difference from the threshold loads.

Elevator control apparatus and method for minimizing an elevator group load difference

An elevator system includes at least one shuttle elevator and at least two local elevators, the elevator cars of which are arranged to travel in the same elevator hoistway such that they can serve at least one shared transfer floor of a transfer level. The control system of the elevator system receives destination calls given from a destination call appliance, forms a plurality of route alternatives and allocates a destination call to one or more elevators by selecting the best route alternative. When allocating a destination call, the control system takes into account that the elevator cars of the local elevators that travel in the same elevator hoistway cannot simultaneously be at a shared transfer floor in cases in which the route alternative includes a part-trip with a local elevator and a change of elevator at a shared transfer floor.
