The same absorption medium separates the hydrogen sulfide out of the gas stream and the carbon dioxide out of the exhaust gas. A corresponding device for the treatment of a gas stream has a first absorber and a second absorber flow-connected to one another for the exchange of absorption medium.

A separation apparatus for carbon dioxide is provided which includes an absorption unit for absorbing flue gas from a fossil-fueled power station, a desorption unit and a heat exchanger which on the primary feed side is connected via an inlet-side feedback line to the desorption unit, and on the discharge side is connected via an outlet-side feedback line to the absorption unit. A method for separating carbon dioxide from a flue gas of a fossil fuel-operated power plant is provided. In the method, a fossil fuel is initially burned in a combustion process, wherein a hot waste gas containing carbon dioxide is produced. In a next process step, waste gas containing carbon dioxide is brought into contact with an absorption medium in an absorption process, wherein carbon dioxide is absorbed by the absorption medium, thus forming a charged absorption medium. Next, gaseous carbon dioxide is thermally expelled from the charged absorption medium in a desorption process. For this purpose, a vapor is supplied to the desorption process, the vapor is injected into the charged absorption medium, wherein the condensation heat released by the condensation of the vapor is transferred to the charged absorption medium, and the partial pressure of the carbon dioxide is simultaneously reduced in the desorption unit.

Method and device for separating carbon dioxide from a waste gas of a fossil fuel-operated power plant

A method and corresponding apparatus for separation of carbon dioxide from an exhaust gas of a fossil-fired power are provided. In an absorption process, the exhaust gas containing carbon dioxide is brought into contact with an absorption medium so that the absorption medium is laden with carbon dioxide. In a desorption process, vapor from a water/steam circuit of the fossil-fired power plant is heated, wherein a laden absorption medium is regenerated. In a subsequent expansion process, the regenerated absorption medium is expanded so that a vapor and an expanded absorption medium are formed, wherein the vapor is recirculated into the desorption process. The laden absorption medium is divided into a first part stream and a second part stream. Only the second part stream is brought into heat-exchanging contact with the expanded absorption medium. The first and second part streams are supplied to the desorption process at different process stages.
