Disclosed is a method of producing tubular knitted articles for ready-to-wear clothes pieces, on a flat knitting machine with at least two oppositely located needle beds and a carriage with at least three knitting systems. In a first carriage passage narrowing of a knitted piece suspended on a front needle bed in one edge region, stitch formation for a knitted piece suspended on a rear needle bed, and reduction of a rear knitted piece in an opposite edge region of the knitted piece are performed. In a second carriage passage narrowing of the rear knitted piece in one edge region, stitch formation for the front knitted piece, and narrowing of the front knitted piece in an opposite region of the knitted piece are performed. The two proceeding steps are repeated until a desired narrowing of a knitted product is provided.

Method for producing tubular knitted articles on a flat knitting machine

For producing knitted products with several knitting planes on a two bed flat knitting machine, all needles of one needle bed are usable for producing of stitches for a knitting plane, and the production of additional knitting plane is performed so that the stitches of another plane are transferred to the transfer element and held there, until new stitches for the knitting plane must be formed.

A method for producing a knitted article on a flat knitting machine with two opposite needle beds and a stitch hanging over device has the steps of providing a knitted article with a base knitted structure and at least one parallel partial knitted texture which partially overlaps the base knitted structure, equipping at least in a region of the parallel partial knitted structure at most each second needle of one needle bed with a stitch of the base knitted texture, emptying a needle of another needle bed which is opposite to the equipped needle of the one needle bed, producing stitches of at least one parallel partial knitted texture in needles which are not equipped with base knitting stitches, hanging over stitches of the base knitted texture in a region of at least one parallel partial knitted texture before producing of stitches for the parallel partial knitted texture on the other needle bed.

Method for producing a knitted article on a flat knitting machine

For mesh widening of a hose-shaped knitted piece on a double bed flat knitting machine knitting a mesh row is knitted in a carriage direction from left to right on a front needle bed and subsequently a mesh row is knitted in the carriage direction from right to left on a rear needle bed. Then a mesh row is knitted in the carriage direction from left to right on the front needle bed and a loop is formed on a previously free edge needle of the front needle bed, a mesh row is formed in the carriage direction from right to left on the rear needle bed, the loop is transferred with a first knitting system in the carriage direction from left to right on an empty needle of the rear needle bed with a further knitting system knitting a mesh row on the front needle bed. Finally, a mesh row is formed in the carriage direction from right to left with cooperation of the edge needle with the loop, a mesh row is knitted in the carriage direction from left to right on the front needle bed, and a mesh row is knitted in the opposite carriage direction of the rear needle bed.

Three variations of a process for interconnecting the sleeves and the torso portion of a sleeved clothing article during production of the sleeved clothing article on a two bed flat bed knitting machine include one variation of the process which provides sleeves having seam regions extending perpendicularly to the shoulders; another variation which provides sleeves having seam regions extending at an angle to the shoulders; and further variations which provides raglan sleeves.

Process for producing sleeved clothing articles on a two bed flat

The sinkers of both needle beds of a double bed flat knitting machine are pivotable so as to form a complete bridge over the gap between the needle beds. They have a loop-forming edge which is formed, with respect to the direction of take down for the knitted fabric, underneath the projections of the sinkers, which make up the bridge. Holding down of the old stitches in the gap between the needle beds is therefore ensured and a loop equalizing movement can be effected by means of the sinkers.

The fabric take-down mechanism for flat knitting machines has an auxiliary take-down roller (22) following the main take-down roller (10) and extending over the whole length of the needle beds, this auxiliary roller having edges (24) and being grounded through metallic retaining loops (25). The auxiliary take-down roller (22) cooperates with a smooth but likewise electrical conducting counter plate (21).
