The present invention is a liquid absorbent sandwich web as can be used in absorbent products such as in disposable absorbent articles such as diapers, feminine hygiene articles or incontinence devices, and to the manufacturing of such webs. The liquid absorbent sandwich web provides high absorbent capacity without compromising softness.

The invention relates to an absorbent structure having a sequence of layers, comprising at least one first and one second outer layer and at least one liquid storage layer arranged therebetween, wherein the layers are arranged on top of each other and form a layer structure, wherein at least the liquid storage layer comprises a cellulose material, preferably cellulose fibers, and a super-absorbent polymer SAP, preferably SAP particles and/or SAP fibers, wherein the liquid storage layer comprises at least less, preferably no, binder than liquid-storing layers of the absorbent structure adjacent to the liquid storage layer. The absorbent structure has particularly high flexibility in the wet and the dry state. It can preferably be used in disposable items. The invention further relates to a method for producing the absorbent structure and to a device for producing same.

Flexible, strongly absorbing material

An absorbent structure with a sequence of two layers includes at least one liquid absorption layer, a subsequent liquid storage layer with super absorbent polymer particles and super absorbent polymer fibers, and a subsequent liquid distribution layer. The layers are connected and form a sheet structure. The liquid storage layer has its super absorbent polymer extending from the liquid storage layer into the liquid distribution layer in order to generate a return suction effect for the liquid that has passed through the liquid absorption layer and liquid storage layer into the liquid distribution layer.

Absorbent structure

The present invention concerns a nonwoven fabric the fibers of which have polyethylene on at least part of their surface, where the fibers are thermally bonded and the non-woven fabric exhibits an abrasion of less than 0.5 mg/cm, in particular of less than 0.4 mg/cm, and an embossed area fraction of less than 35%, in particular of less than 28%. Furthermore a device is made available for the manufacture of a non-woven fabric, using a polyethylene-containing polymer, with a take-down system underneath a spinning plate that causes the take-down of the polyethylene, where the spinning plate has an L/D ratio of between 4 and 9.
