An infusion set for use with a fluid infusion device is provided. The infusion set can include a mount including a projection having a bore. The projection can be surrounded at least partially by a recess defined through a surface of the mount, and the mount can include at least one rib that spans the recess. The infusion set can include a fluid outlet coupled to at least a portion of the bore of the projection and a coupling device to couple the infusion set to a user. The coupling device can be coupled to the surface and the at least one rib of the mount.

An injection apparatus for making an injection at a predetermined depth in skin comprises: a first skin positioning member, a second skin positioning member, wherein the first and second skin positioning members lie or are moveable to lie in an injection arrangement; an injection needle; and an injection needle movement guide to guide the injection needle for movement from a parking position above the skin, through the lower surface of the second skin positioning member to slide beneath the first skin positioning member to an injection position. A further injection apparatus comprises: an injection needle; a plunger within the injection needle; and a retractor to retract the injection needle such that material to be injected is expelled from the injection needle by the plunger.

Injection apparatus

An injection apparatus is described for making an injection at a predetermined depth in skin, including: a skin positioning member for positioning on a patch of skin within an area of skin such that at least a part of the patch of skin may be held elevated above or depressed below the area of skin, an injection needle, and a guidance mechanism for guiding the injection needle to slide beneath the skin positioning member to an injection position in which the distal end of the needle lies at a predetermined distance below the skin positioning member. An injection apparatus is also described including a detachable marker unit and a securing element for securing the marker unit at an injection site prior to the making of an injection to mark the position of the injection site.

A needle assembly comprises an injection needle and a needle hub, mountable on a syringe, for securing the injection needle. The needle has an injection part extending axially from the hub and terminating in a skin piercing obliquely cut end. The length of the injection part is between 4 and 6 mm, thereby facilitating a proper subcutaneous injection. Also, preferably either (a) the outer diameter of the needle is smaller than 0.320 mm and the bore diameter is larger than 0.165 mm, or (b) the outer diameter is smaller than 0.298 mm and the bore diameter is larger than 0.133 mm. Also, preferably the hub includes an axially extending protrusion, from which the injection part extends, to facilitate insertion of the injection part into the skin of a user at an oblique angle.

Displacement system for controlled infusion of a liquid

An injection apparatus has a jacket having a front end and a cartridge for containing a liquid having a rubber membrane closing a front end of the cartridge at the front end of the jacket. A double-ended needle is held in a needle holder such that both ends thereof are exposed and oriented, one end at the membrane for piercing the membrane to obtain the liquid from the cartridge, and the opposite end for injecting the liquid. First cooperative threads on a cap and the jacket are for screwing the cap onto the jacket and unscrewing the cap therefrom, the first cooperative threads having a first pitch and a first rotational hand. Second cooperative threads are on the needle holder and one of the cap and cartridge, the second cooperative threads having a second pitch and a second rotational hand, which is opposite of the first rotational hand, for moving the needle holder and needle axially upon relative rotation between the cap and cartridge, whereby the one end of the needle pierces the membrane when the cap is unscrewed. A protective case is slidable in the cap axially for protecting the opposite end of the needle at least when the cap is screwed onto the jacket and while the cap is being unscrewed therefrom. A compression coil spring in the cap biases the protective case towards the needle holder at least while the cap is being unscrewed from the jacket.

A hose pump (1) consisting of a hose (2), at least one, preferably two pressure rollers (3,4), a support plate (9) and a drive source (26). The hose (2) is paced in a hose receiving track (6) in the support plate (9). The rollers (3,4) are rotatably journalled on a common rotary shaft (10), whose center (11) is firmly connected with a drive shaft (12), which is perpendicular to the support face (5) of the support plate (9) engaging the rollers (3,4). The rollers (3,4) act on the hose (2) in the flow direction of the pump (1) and alternately determine, in specific angle ranges, the liquid volume flow discharged. The succeeding roller (4) cooperates with the hose (2) in such a manner that the hose is completely closed when the forwardly disposed roller (3), as seen in the flow direction, initiates its disengaging movement away from the hose (2). During the following opening movement of the forwardly disposed roller (3) from having closed the hose (2) completely to letting it be completely open, the succeeding roller (4) cooperates with the hose (2) so that hose, in addition to discharging a volume flow corresponding to the normal volume flow of the pump (1), also discharges an additional volume flow to compensate for the loss caused by the opening movement of the forwardly disposed roller (3). Then, the volume flow discharged by the pump (1) is constant per unit of time. Further, reverse suction in the outlet end of the hose is obviated.
