To determine air mass flows, especially for controlling internal combustion engines, a hot-film air-mass sensor is provided, which may be used especially for sensing air mass flows in the intake tract of an internal combustion engine. The hot-film air-mass sensor has a sensor chip having a sensor frame and a sensor diaphragm having at least one heating element and at least two temperature sensors. Furthermore, the hot-film air-mass sensor has a chip carrier for mounting the sensor chip, as well as at least one additional heating element. The sensor chip is able to be heated up using the at least one additional heating element, which is inserted into the chip carrier. Compared to the usual devices, the hot-film air-mass sensor has a lower susceptibility to contamination, especially by oil films.

Devices for determining at least one parameter of a medium flowing in a conduit, in particular for determining the air-mass flow in the intake tract of an internal combustion engine, including a conduit member and sensor device having a bypass section are already known. To prevent flow detachment at the side walls of the bypass section, it is proposed that a flow guide wall running substantially parallel to the side wall provided with the separation opening of the bypass section be arranged in the conduit member behind the separation opening, as viewed in the main flow direction; the length dimension b of the flow guide wall, as viewed in the main flow direction, being equal to or greater than the distance a of the separation opening from the rear wall; and the distance c of the flow guide wall from the center axis of the conduit member being greater than or equal to the distance d of the side wall provided with the separation opening of the bypass section from the center axis.

A device for determining at least one parameter of a medium flowing in a line, particularly the intake air mass of an internal combustion engine, having one part which has at least one measuring channel for conducting at least one partial flow of the medium flowing in the line in a main flow direction and which can be inserted into the line with a predetermined alignment with respect to the main flow direction, and having at least one measuring element situated in the measuring channel for determining the at least one parameter. In order that dirt particles and liquid droplets entrained by the aspirated air will be kept away from the measuring element, in accordance with the invention, a protective screen is disposed inside the tubular body, upstream of the measuring element; the screen extends in inclined fashion in the flow direction, and dirt particles and liquid droplets are deposited on it and carried to a downstream end of the protective screen, so that via an outflow opening they can reach the inner conduit wall of the tubular body and be made to bypass the measuring element.

A measurement device for measuring the mass of a medium flowing along a flow direction, in particular the intake air mass of an internal combustion engine, has a plate-shaped sensor element, which is inserted into a recess of a sensor support. The sensor element includes a membrane that supports a measuring element, which membrane encloses a hollow space embodied in the sensor element on the side remote from the sensor support. The sensor element is secured in the recess by means of a glue between the sensor support and a bottom face of the sensor element oriented toward the sensor support. Known sensor supports have a recess in which a sensor element is glued by means of an adhesive. The device according to the invention has a plate-shaped sensor element that is accommodated in a recess of a sensor support. A sensor region (3) has at least one measurement resistor, which region is exposed to the flowing medium wherein a gap remains between the sensor element and the recess. To protect an evaluation circuit connected to the sensor element against moisture, the provision is made, according to the invention, that at least partial regions of the evaluation circuit and partial regions of the sensor element are covered by a protective coating, wherein the gap has at least one enlargement by means of which the flow of the protective coating can be influenced. The device according to the invention is used for measuring the mass of a flowing medium in the intake air mass of internal combustion engines.
