A method for sealing a side pocket mandrel and hydraulic tube includes moving a sealant dispenser into a pocket of the side pocket mandrel from within a well tubing. The sealant dispenser has an upper seal and a lower seal spaced apart therefrom; the seals are sealingly engaged with the pocket. A space between the upper seal and the lower seal is in fluid communication with at least one port in the pocket. A curable sealant is moved from the sealant dispenser into the pocket and into the tube. Either the sealant is allowed to cure or the sealant dispenser is unlatched from a running tool used to move the sealant dispenser into the pocket.

Method and apparatus for sealing a side pocket mandrel

A method for lifting a first well tubular nested in a second well tubular from contact with the second well tubular includes moving a wellbore intervention tool to a location where the first well tubular is in contact with the second well tubular. The well intervention tool is operated to displace a wall of the first tubular until either (i) the wall of the first tubular contacts the second tubular and separates the first tubular from contact with the second tubular, or (ii) an opening is made in the wall of the first tubular. After the opening is made, an object is displaced from the wall of the first tubular until the object contact the second tubular and lifts the first tubular from the second tubular, wherein a circumferentially continuous annular space is opened between the first well tubular and the second well tubular.

Method for separating nested well tubulars in gravity contact with each other

A method for producing fluid from a well includes inserting a pump into a well tubing having at least one gas lift valve disposed at a selected depth. The pump arranged to lift fluid below the pump into the well tubing. A gas pressure in an annular space between the well tubing and a well casing is increased until the gas reaches a flow port in the tubing proximate the pump. The pump is operated by continuing pumping gas so as to lift fluid from a subsurface reservoir to the selected depth of the at least one gas lift valve.

Gas operated, retrievable well pump for assisting gas lift

A method for thermally insulating a power cable or other temperature sensitive equipment from a wellbore tool comprising a heater. The wellbore tool is deployed at an end of the power cable in a well. A flow restrictor is deployed in an annular space between the heater and a wellbore tubular. The heater is axially spaced apart from the power cable such that the heater is disposed on one side of the flow restrictor and a connection to the power cable is disposed on another side of the flow restrictor. A thermal insulator is introduced into the annular space on the one side of the flow restrictor and the heater is operated.

A method for modifying an element on a section of wellbore tubular includes positioning a wellbore intervention tool at a first location on the tubular, operating a penetration device to remove the element and create an orifice on the section of wellbore tubular, and operating an installation device to install a replacement element in the orifice.

Method for modifying installed wellbore flow control devices

A wellbore pumping system () has at least one jet pump () disposed in a tubular string () inserted into a subsurface wellbore (II). An intake of the jet pump is in fluid communication with a subsurface reservoir. A discharge of the jet pump is in fluid communication with an interior of a tubular string extending to the surface. A fluid bypass () fluidly connects the inlet and discharge of the jet pump. The fluid bypass in some embodiments is operable to enable fluid flow when a differential pressure of fluid pumped into the tubular string from the surface exceeds a predetermined pressure. Another aspect includes a pump system having two separately operable jet pumps in tandem in a wellbore tubular string.

Systems and methods for killing wells equipped with jet pumps

A method for operating a pressure operated device in a wellbore includes conducting pressurized gas to a power fluid inlet port of a valve at a first pressure. The first pressure is selected to cause a shuttle in the valve to be positioned to enable flow of the pressurized gas through the valve to a power fluid flow port in communication with a power fluid inlet of the pneumatic device. Pressure of the pressurized gas is increased to a second pressure greater than the first pressure, whereby the shuttle moves to close the power fluid inlet port to flow and to vent the power fluid flow port to ambient pressure in the wellbore.

A wellbore intervention tool includes a housing and a means for locking the housing at a selected position inside a first wellbore pipe. The tool includes means for penetrating the first wellbore pipe extensible from the housing. The means for penetrating includes means for measuring an amount of extension thereof or an amount of force exerted thereby such that the means for penetrating is controllable to penetrate the first wellbore pipe without penetration of a second wellbore pipe in which the first wellbore pipe is nested.

A wellbore intervention tool for use in penetrating an obstruction in a wellbore includes a cutting tool having at least one rotating cutter member for penetrating the obstruction. A displacement mechanism coupled to the cutting tool sets and adjusts a cutting position of the cutting tool relative to a tool axis. A sweeper coupled to the displacement mechanism deflects the displacement mechanism about the tool axis, and the cutting tool is deflected with the displacement mechanism.

Wellbore intervention tool for penetrating obstructions in a wellbore

Methods for sealing a wellbore include placing a barrier material within an annular space between a wellbore tubing and a wellbore casing, wherein a seal is placed across or below openings in the wellbore tubing at at least one location above a lowermost tubing to annulus opening. In some embodiments, an intervention tubing may be used to insert the barrier material into successively exposed ones of the annulus openings, whereby no seal sleeve is needed.

A wellbore intervention tool conveyance system includes an upper pipe injector disposed in a pressure tight housing. The upper injector has a seal element engageable with a wellbore intervention tool and disposed below the injector. The upper housing has a coupling at a lower longitudinal end. A lower pipe injector is disposed in a pressure tight housing, the lower housing has well closure elements disposed above the lower pipe injector. The lower housing is configured to be coupled at a lower longitudinal end to a subsea wellhead. The lower housing is configured to be coupled at an upper longitudinal end to at least one of (i) a spacer spool disposed between the upper pipe injector housing and the lower pipe injector housing, and (ii) the lower longitudinal end of the upper pipe injector housing.

An electrical coupling system for use in a wellbore that enables insertion and removal of an electrically operated device in a wellbore includes an electrical receptacle mounted at a selected axial position along a tubing disposed in the wellbore. The receptacle includes at least one insulated electrical conductor coupled to an electrical contact inside the receptacle and extending to the well surface. An electrical coupler is disposed on an exterior of the electrically operated device. The coupler includes at least one electrical contact disposed proximate the receptacle contact when the coupler is mated to the receptacle. The coupler including at least one flow passage enabling wellbore fluid flow from below the coupler to an annular space between the electrically operated device and an interior of the tubing.

A wellbore pump includes a pump housing suspendible in a wellbore at ends of at least one of a power fluid line and a fluid discharge line. The pump housing includes a fluid inlet proximate a bottom end thereof and wherein the fluid discharge line is coupled proximate a top end thereof. The pump include valves for directing flow of wellbore fluid out of the housing when power fluid displaces fluid in the housing, the valves for directing flow of wellbore fluid into the housing when power fluid pressure is relieved.

A method for completing a wellbore having a plurality of stimulation valves disposed therein at longitudinally spaced apart locations includes moving a spoolable rod into the wellbore. The rod includes a plurality of spaced apart sensors therein. At least one valve operating dart is applied to an exterior of the spoolable rod. The dart is configured to engage a selected one of the stimulation valves. A position of the at least one dart is estimated during pumping of fluid into the wellbore by measuring output of the sensors in the rod.

Real time downhole intervention during wellbore stimulation operations

A method for sealing a conduit in a spoolable wellbore intervention rod includes exposing an interior of the conduit at a location proximate the earth's surface while the spoolable rod is deployed in a wellbore. A curable sealing compound is introduced into the exposed interior of the conduit and the compound is allowed to cure.
