Apparatus and method for additive manufacturing

A method for the additive manufacturing of a component having the following steps: additively building up multiple sub-sections for the component using a powder bed-based method, arranging the sub-sections to form a composite and additively completing the component, wherein material is deposited, by a deposition welding method, along a peripheral direction around the composite of the sub-sections in such a way that the sub-sections are integrally bonded to each other.

Method for modular additive manufacturing of a component and a component

A method of manufacturing a hard-to-weld material by a beam-assisted additive manufacturing process is presented. The method includes depositing a first layer for the material onto the substrate, the first layer including a major fraction of a base material for the component and a minor fraction of a solder, depositing a second layer of the base material for the component and a thermal treatment of the layer arrangement. The thermal treatment includes a first thermal cycle at a first temperature above 1200&#xb0; C. for a duration of more than 3 hours, a subsequent second thermal cycle at a second temperature above 1000&#xb0; C. for more than 2 hours, and a subsequent third thermal cycle and a third temperature above 700&#xb0; C. for more than 12 hours. A manufactured component is also presented.

Manufacturing method for hard-to-weld materials

A composition of a nickel based alloy mixture which can be used for welding via especially liquid metal deposition or as a powder bed of an additive manufacturing method. A metallic powder mixture includes (in wt %): a cobalt (Co) or nickel (Ni) based super alloy with a content of 20% to 60%, a NiCoCrAlY-composition with a content of 70% to 30% and a metallic braze material with a content between 10% to 5%. The melting point of the braze material is at least 10K lower than the melting point of the nickel or cobalt based superalloy.

A torch for tungsten inert gas welding is provided, in particular a narrow gap head for tungsten inert gas narrow-gap welding. In a housing made of metal, an electrode unit is retained by an electrode retainer and a cooling device for cooling the electrode unit is present. Liquid cooling medium can be conducted into the electrode retainer and back out of the electrode retainer through the cooling device. The cooling device includes at least one electrically conductive partition within a jacket of the electrode retainer for forming cooling channels, at least the at least one partition being electrically connected to the electrode unit. Furthermore, an outer surface of the electrode retainer is provided with an insulating layer at least in the area of the housing, which housing surrounds the electrode retainer.
