A floor anchor pocket for mounting in a vehicle designed to carry wheelchairs or cargo is described. The pocket is provided with an internally located spring and a specially shaped cut-out so as to provide positive self locking for a tie down strap hook which is insertable therein.

Positive locking tie-down system

A thin plate patello-femoral-tibial resurfacing prosthesis is described. The patellar component is a metallic shell which is designed to be as thin as possible so as to retain maximum natural bone thickness and hence strength. The metallic patellar component articulates with a plastic insert in a metallic femoral component. The tibial bearing area of the femoral component is metallic for articulation with a plastic proximal tibial prosthesis.

Prosthetic patello-femoral joint

An improved tibial plateau prosthesis is described in which a baseplate is anatomically peripherally shaped and provided with a knife edge perimeter which cuts into the soft tissue outer edge of the epiphyseal shell of the tibia and effectively caps the tibia. Hoop stresses are reduced, and the use of wrought metal for the baseplate, inclusion of a deep intercondylar cut out as well as a series of performations at locations corresponding to positions of hardness of the cancellous bone facilitates flexibility more in tune with the properties of the original subchondral bone plate and cartilage which in turn reduces 'lift-off' from an unloaded condyle during loading of the other condyle. Bone ingrowth is encouraged by accurate flat cutting and the provision of the perforations. Initial stability is promoted by the knife edge and its asymmetrical circumferential shape.

Tibial prosthesis

A bone clip for surgical repair of bones in vivo, having a body and depending legs at each end thereof and perpendicular thereto. Means are provided to draw the legs inwardly towards each other after insertion into the bone so as to draw the bone ends together under a preselected pressure.

Contracting bone clip

A wheelchair and occupant restraint system for use in a vehicle in which a pair of brackets are mounted on spaced apart frame members of the wheel chair. One end of each of a pair of flexible straps are secured to an anchor on the floor of the vehicle and the other end of each strap is releasably secured to one of the brackets. One end of each of a second pair of straps is secured to a respective bracket and the second pair of straps is arranged to releasably secure the occupant in the chair. The straps and brackets are so arranged that forces applied to the second pair of straps are transmitted directly to the floor anchors via the first pair of straps.

Wheelchair and occupant restraint system

A prosthetic ligament device comprising an elastic element securable to the underlying bone structure by means of a quick release bayonet-type fitting which permits rotational movement during engagement at one end and a length adjusting means at the other end thereof. The elastic element comprises a plurality of parallel, longitudinal, polyester cords which form the warp, interwoven with a plurality of transverse soft silicone or polyurethane tubes which form the weft. Upon extension the soft tubes compress so as to permit a relatively large elongation of the elastic element at low stress, but upon continued extension the elastic element becomes progressively stiffer, simulating a natural ligament.
