A method for forming an injection molded component from a host polymer (18) uses a very small quantity of an additive (32) that is efficiently driven to the surface of the component during the injection molding process. The additive exists in the host polymer at a very low concentration in the bulk, much lower than would be necessary to achieve the modification in a homogeneous blend. The additive is an insoluble liquid in the host polymer under the temperature and pressure conditions of injection molding. The additive is driven to the flow front surface (22) during injection molding and then translated to the surface (24) of the component by fountain flow and is distributed on the surface in a thin layer, producing the desired surface modification, without altering the properties of the bulk polymer, and eliminating post processing steps from the manufacturing process.

Electrically conductive polythiophenecarbonyl polymer networks are provided comprising conjugated crosslinks between polythiophenecarbonyl polymer segments of the network. The network can be formed by crosslinking carbonyl functional polythiophenecarbonyl polymers, such as by self-crosslinking condensation reaction or crosslinking condensation reaction with conjugated diylide and/or conjugated polyamine. The carbonyl functional polythiophenecarbonyl polymers can be prepared by polymerization, such as by electropolymerization of carbonyl functional thiophene monomers (the carbonyl functionality generally being protected during polymerization) and, optionally, suitable conjugated copolymerization monomers such as thiophene, pyrrole and/or carbonyl functional pyrrole.

Electrically conductive polythiophenecarbonyl polymer networks

Electrically conductive polythiopheneamine polymer networks are provided comprising conjugated crosslinks between polythiopheneamine polymer segments of the network. The network can be formed by crosslinking amine functional polythiopheneamine polymers, such as by crosslinking condensation reaction with conjugated polyketone crosslinkers. The amine functional polythiopheneamine polymers can be prepared by polymerization, such as by electropolymerization of amine functional thiophene monomers (the amine functionality generally being protected during polymerization) and, optionally, suitable conjugated copolymerization monomers such as thiophene, pyrrole and/or amine functional pyrrole.

Electrically conductive polyaminopyrrole polymer networks are provided comprising conjugated crosslinks between polyaminopyrrole polymer segments of the network. The network can be formed by crosslinking amine functional polyaminopyrrole polymers, such as by crosslinking condensation reaction with conjugated polyketone crosslinkers. The amine functional polyaminopyrrole polymers can be prepared by polymerization, such as by electropolymerization of amine functional pyrrole monomers (the amine functionality generally being protected during polymerization) and, optionally, suitable conjugated copolymerization monomers such as thiophene, pyrrole and/or amine functional thiophene.

This invention is directed to a stabilizer useful to retard transesterification in moldable polymer blends containing polyester(s) during processing of the blends at elevated temperatures, particularly at high temperatures above about 285.degree. The composition comprises about 80 to about 20 weight percent of amino vinyl prepolymer and about 20 to about 80 weight percent of a crosslinkable diluent, wherein the prepolymer consists essentially of the reaction product of epoxy-amino alcohol adduct and unsaturated monomer having a terminal vinyl group and a hydroxy reactive functionality capable of reacting with the hydroxyl groups of the adduct. The polyepoxide and amino alcohol, preferably a diethanol amine, are reacted in a ratio of about 1:1-1.2 equivalents of epoxide to amine groups, so as to react essentially all of the epoxide groups. A method of preparing a homogeneous thermosetting powder paint composition which cures to form a coating exhibiting outstanding exterior durability, adhesion and impact strength. The method comprises: introducing a liquid including at least a crosslinkable copolymer and an inert solvent into a devolatilizing zone wherein the inert solvent is removed and the nonvolatile material is separated in a molten state; feeding said nonvolatile molten material under pressure into a heated mixing zone comprising a static mixer; simultaneously feeding a stoichiometric quantity (.+-. 30%) of a molten crosslinking agent for said copolymer into said mixing zone under pressure; removing the mixture of nonvolatile molten material and molten crosslinking agent from said mixing zone; cooling said mixture to form a solid material; and purlverizing the solid material to form a powder.
