A catalyst having at least one Group VIB metal component, at least one Group VIII metal component, a phosphorus component, and a boron-containing carrier component. The amount of the phosphorus component is at least 1 wt %, expressed as an oxide (PO) and based on the total weight of the catalyst, and the amount of boron content is in the range of about 1 to about 13 wt %, expressed as an oxide (BO) and based on the total weight of the catalyst. In one embodiment of the invention, the boron-containing carrier component is a product of a co-extrusion of at least a carrier and a boron source. A method for producing the catalyst and its use for hydrotreating a hydrocarbon feed are also described.

Hydrotreating catalyst containing phosphorus and boron

This invention provides supported catalysts comprising a carrier, phosphorus, at least one Group VI metal, at least one Group VIII metal, and a polymer. In the catalyst, the molar ratio of phosphorus to Group VI metal is about 1:1.5 to less than about 1:12, the molar ratio of the Group VI metal to the Group VIII metal is about 1:1 to about 5:1, and the polymer has a carbon backbone and comprises functional groups having at least one heteroatom. Also provided are a process for preparing such supported catalysts, as well as methods for hydrotreating, hydrodenitrogenation, and/or hydrodesulfurization, using supported catalysts.

Supported hydrotreating catalysts having enhanced activity

The invention relates to a process for preparing bulk metal oxide particles comprising the steps of combining in a reaction mixture (i) dispersible nanoparticles having a dimension of less than about 1 &#x3bc;m upon being dispersed in a liquid, (ii) at least one Group VIII non-noble metal compound, (iii) at least one Group VIB metal compound, and (iv) a protic liquid; and reacting the at least one Group VIII non-noble metal compound and the at least one Group VIB metal in the presence of the nanoparticles. It also relates to bulk metal hydroprocessing catalysts obtainable by such method.
